May 7, 2012. Augusta, Maine. When Maine Republicans held their caucus in February, allegations of fraud were leveled at the state GOP. Canceling the state’s elections without allowing many voters cast a ballot, Republican officials quickly declared party-favorite Mitt Romney the winner. Ahead by only 194 votes, the former Governor was handed the victory before voters in Ron Paul’s strongholds could even cast a ballot. After this weekend’s state convention, Ron Paul has won the state anyway. It’s not the first state to shift into the Paul column, and it certainly won’t be the last.
