The NBA playoffs continued on Sunday as the league had four games played to close out the week. The home teams won three of the four contests, but the LA Lakers pulled off the lone road win as they defeated the Denver Nuggets 92-88 and have taken a 3-1 advantage in the opening round series.
Los Angeles was out-rebounded in their game three loss in Denver, but the Lakers flexed their muscles on Sunday as they held a 48-38 advantage on the glass and held Denver to just 37 points in the second half. Guard Kobe Bryant led the team with 22 points, but he finished making just 10-25 shots on the evening.
The NY Knicks broke a playoff win-less drought that dated back to 2001 as All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony scored 41 points and led the team to an 89-87 victory over Miami. The Heat still hold a three 3-1 advantage in the series and will host New York on Wednesday night.
Boston opened a 64-41 first half lead and cruised to an easy 101-79 victory over Atlanta. The Celtics now have a 3-1 advantage in their opening round series as the team played thirteen players in the lopsided win. Paul Pierce led the team with 24 points, but four of the five starters scored in double-digits as they handed the Hawks their third straight loss in the series.
While most of the NBA first round action has teams with convincing leads, anything can happen as momentum can turn in a heart beat. The action continues on Monday night as the San Antonio Spurs look to sweep their series with Utah.
