The pun is intended. I’m not talking about food; I’m referring to taking out one Chinese dissident from China and bringing him to the USA. For those of you concerned with such nonsense, you may not be aware of the following — unemployment is still high, health care is too expensive, and not available to everyone, the economy has not recovered, the war in Afghanistan continues, returning soldiers and NFL players are committing suicide, millions of women and children suffer from abuse, 46.2 million Americans live below the poverty level, and 8% of high school students drop out. The drop out rate for Hispanics is 17% and many people want to open the borders. So they can come here and fail?
My question is why we spend so much time worrying about one Chinese man who is not happy at home? I can’t turn on the TV without hearing about it. Today’s Wall Street Journal devoted pages to this issue, including the lead article above the fold. There are probably billions of people around the world that feel abused or want more freedom. Hell, let’s bring’em all here.
The only explanation I can come up with is that the Congress is not capable of solving real problems, so they find some distraction. I’m reminded of a controller at a company I audited years ago. We called him the “petty cash controller.” He was not capable of handling real controller duties so he reconciled petty cash every day.
Another annoying part of this story is that Kung Fu can call congress on his cell phone and they take his call. I can’t get my representatives to even answer a letter. When I do get a reply, it’s a canned response. Congress should have a recorded message when dissidents and human rights activists from around the world call.
“Thanks for calling the dissident hot line. Your call is important to us as we are always looking for something to distract our stupid citizens so they won’t bother us with real problems. Push 1 for Mandarin; 2 for Hindi; 3 for Arabic; 4 for Russian or 5 for Swahili. If your language was not listed hang up, as we don’t care about you or your country. If you meet certain qualifications you and your family may be eligible for an all expense paid asylum.”
The only thing worse than a wimpy dissident seeking asylum, is an immigrant who leaves his homeland, and protests here as if we care.

restriction. One child, one family. Once, I read alarm that China's population exceeds one billion. I don't see where enforcing a law is violation of human rights. Chen Guancheng doesn't seem to speak English. There were conflicting reports as to what he wants. It doesn't seem plausible The Chinese would threaten such a high profile individual.
