Kate Gosselin must be close to destitute because now se's appearing at mother's group events that are charging a mere $75 per person for admission. Kate will be the keynote speaker at the 'Tapas and Top Hats' event that honors moms from the Ozarks.
According to a report from KY3, the purpose of the 'Tapas and Top Hats' event is to honor Remarkable Mothers of the Ozarks. These mothers 'have contributed significantly
to the fabric of family through their role as a mother or through empowering other mothers to become successful investors in their families and community.'
It's kind of interesting that someone like Kate has been chosen for this speaking role. She didn't do anything to 'contribute significantly to the fabric' or her or other's families until she was a reality show star. And as anyone knows, it's much easier to give of oneself when one has money and the ability to have all of their at-home duties, including caring for their own children, done for them.
This year's 'Tapas and Top Hats' ad talks about their upcoming speaker.
"We are excited to have Kate Gosselin as our featured speaker this year," it reads. "Kate is the mother of eight children - sextuplets and twins. She has appeared on many media outlets and is the bestselling author of Multiple Blessings, I Just Want You to Know and Eight Little Faces."
Why do you suppose they are concentrating on Kate's books rather than her reality TV shows Jon & Kate Plus 8 and Kate Plus Eight? Are they hoping to avert the questions about Kate's money and the privileges she has enjoyed while raising her eight children?
Do you think this women's group was simply interested in a 'big name' keynote speaker for their event or do they really believe that Kate Gosselin has done something phenomenal in the realm of motherhood?

Second, I read the tweet where Kate responded to the event. She mentioned that it would take "trains, planes and automobiles" to get there. I found it odd, because Kate never once complained about the long international flight to Australia for her appearance at the Australia Zoo. She has never complained about flying across the continent to LA or to Vegas.
It's very telling that she would complain about how hard it was going to be to get to Springfield, MO.
I'm sure she wouldn't complain about the travel if she were making bank on the event. Even more telling, IMO, is that she didn't mention the event on Twitter until one of her followers brought it up.
All the better to spend quality time with her bodyguard...er.....boyfriend.
My son attended last year and thankfully will be going again this year. It is a truly awesome place! They were also featured a few years ago on Extreme Home Makeover.
In the future, you might want to do some research before you post an article. Camp Barnabas has never been a "women's group" or a "mothers' group".
