A set of Texas sextuplets have a weak sibling in the mix, and their parents have declared the little girl a "fighter." The babies were born in Houston last month to Lauren and David Perkins, and one of the six children, a girl, still suffers some health issues.
So far, none of the Texas sextuplets have gone home, but their parents expect that they will be able to go home within a few months. Any parent knows that not having babies at home can be incredibly difficult. However, having six at once is also obviously quite difficult. It is not surprising that the babies need to stay in the hospital for several weeks since they were born about 10 weeks early.
Five of the six are doing very well -- Andrew, Benjamin, Levi, Allison, and Caroline. Leah is struggling, but still fighting. She had surgery on her bowel on Monday, which appears to have gone well.
Her mother Laura said, "Leah is just a roller coaster for sure/ We get excited for all of her gains and then it's heartbreaking when she has a big setback. She's been able to recover from everything so far. We are just confident she will be able to pull through."
It is going to be amazing once all six children come home. Sure, it is going to be a struggle raising six babies at once, but the couple seems to be well suited raising their blessings even though they had originally only intended to have two. Did you have more babies than you expected? Can you imagine having six like these Texas sextuplets? Thank goodness little Leah is doing okay and her siblings are growing quickly.
