Gossip Girl season 5 continues next week with episode 23, "The Fugitives." Chuck is going to have to deal with what he found out at the end of the last episode—Bart's alive—and Blair's going to find herself double-booked.
Season 5 Episode 23 "The Fugitives" Promo
"Blair (Leighton Meester) enlists Serena (Blake Lively) to be her stand-in at an important meeting when Blair finds herself needing to be in two places at the same time. Meanwhile, Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) and Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) team up to help Chuck (Ed Westwick) with a personal vendetta, and Nate (Chace Crawford) makes a decision about the future with Diana Payne (guest star Elizabeth Hurley)."
In the season 5 episode 23 promo (below), Dan asks Blair to spend the summer with him in Italy. Oh, how things have changed from the end of the last episode. Blair gives Ivy and Lola handcuffs. Is that part of them helping Chuck? Blair's not just going to have scenes with Dan in this episode. Chuck asks if she has anywhere to be, and she gets in the limousine with him. Dan asks Serena where Blair is, and she tells him she's with Chuck. Uh-oh. He's not happy about that. With the season finale, the episode airing after this one, featuring Blair choosing between Dan and Chuck, will something happen in this episode with Chuck to sway her to his side? It is titled "The Return of the Ring" after all.
Gossip Girl Season 5 Episode 23 "The Fugitives" Sneak Peek
As "The Fugitives" sneak peek (below) shows, Serena's about to tell Blair what she's been keeping from her when she thinks she already knows. However, what Blair found out wasn't Serena's secret but Dan's. She found out that he lied at the end of the last episode and turned down the writing program. She knows he's worried about her being in the city with Chuck while he's in Rome, and Serena can see his point. However, Blair argues that trust is very important in a relationship. In fact, on her list, it only comes "after sex and hygiene and earning potential." It's a good thing that Blair and Dan got past the bad sex then.
However, Blair did notice that Serena thought she was talking about something else and wants answers. She's not buying Serena's lie that it's not important. Will Serena tell her? If it doesn't happen in this episode, it seems like it has to happen in the finale, which is going to see Blair suffering the consequences after Gossip Girl goes after her and it turns out Serena had a part to play in it without meaning to.
