If you're planning a trip to Los Angeles and plan to go to The Ellen Show, be forewarned. Ellen DeGeneres has taken to pilfering through Facebook profiles and if you don't have proper privacy setting enabled, you could find your embarrassing mug plastered over national television.
Â
The Ellen Show started going through profiles and pictures earlier this year. She has since shown a number of embarrassing pictures on her show which has millions of viewers daily. Now, of course, this is quite amusing (because it isn't me!). But I preach all the time about people protecting themselves in the form of asking themselves a question; ask yourself if you would want your boss, mother, or father to see the picture. If you wouldn't, then don't post it. But if you're going to post it anyway, at least make yourself aware of your own privacy settings.
Â
You can check the privacy settings of your own photos by clicking the box of “Photos†under your cover picture on your timeline. There, it will bring up your albums. Under the pic covers for each album, you'll see a little icon on the right side. The icons will vary from a little world, to a friend's icon, etc. Hover your mouse over it and it will tell you what your settings are for that album. If your settings are on “Friendsâ€, then you don't have to worry about Ellen being able to post your pics for the entire world to see. If you see a world icon below your albums or alongside any of your individual pictures, then you should also know that anyone in the world can see them. And Ellen can show them on her show.
Â
But then again, the prizes Ellen gives those people she embarrassed are quite good. The latest was an iPad to the people she humiliated. So maybe you don't want to change your settings at all?
