Traditionally, bridal showers were just a gathering of friends and family sitting in a circle around you while you opened gifts and ate finger foods. Maybe you want to spice up your shower with some fun ideas. Whether you’re the hostess or the bride, below are some ideas to make the bridal shower a fun and entertaining one:
A cake/cupcake decorating activity: Have cakes or cupcakes already made and supply the frosting and decorations. Let your guests decorate them and then have a contest for the best decoration.
Pottery/Ceramic painting parties: If you have a nearby pottery or ceramic workshop, see if you can rent out the space for the afternoon and have your guests paint their own pottery or ceramic pieces to take home with them as souvenirs.
Purchase cheap flip-flops and have set up centers where the guests can do their own manicures/pedicures (or hire a few professionals to come in and do it). After the guests get finished with the pampering, have another station set up where they can decorate their flip flops with ribbons, jewels, and other embellishments.
Purchase or make your own facial scrub and have guests do a mini-spa activity with the facial scrub. Send the guests home with small DIY decorated mason jars filled with the mixture.
Game idea – Purse Bingo: Individually, have guests hold up their purses and have someone make a list of ideas of what is inside. Whoever pulls the item out of their purse first wins a prize.
Game idea – Safety Pins: Each guest is given a safety pin upon their arrival to attach to their clothing, and assign a predetermined word. Every time a guest says that word, another guest (whoever is the quickest) can take her safety pin. The guest with the most safety pins at the end of the shower wins a prize.
Game idea – Marriage Recipe: Give each guest a recipe card and ask them to write down their “recipe for a good marriage” and then the bride will collect the cards and read them aloud, trying to guess which guest wrote each recipe.
Game idea – Celebrity: As each guest arrives, attach a name tag with a celebrity’s name on their back, so they can look at everyone else’s name tag but not their own. Each guest will have to ask questions to the others to try to figure out who their own celebrity is.
Game idea – The Dating Game: Before the shower, ask the bride a list of fun questions about her and the groom, making sure she keeps her answers a secret. During the shower, give the guests the list of questions and have them fill out what they think the answers are. The couple will sit in chairs in front of everyone and the groom has to answer the questions “Dating Game style”. Whoever gets the most answers correct wins a prize.
