Somebody stole the Miss Oklahoma crown from Betty Thompson while she was moving over the weekend. Why would somebody take something like this from the beauty queen, who was runner-up for Miss America 2012?
At first, when she realized it was missing, Miss Oklahoma had hoped it was a prank that somebody who knows her was playing on her as she moved to a new rental home in Stillwater. Unfortunately, according to her dad that was not the case.
Robert Thompson said, "After the hours passed and no one showed up saying 'surprise,' we realized this was the real thing, it was serious and that someone had taken the crown."
It is so sad because the family was unloading Thompson's car putting her belongings into her new home when the crown went missing. That means somebody must have been watching and took the crown when nobody was outside. How scary! They not only took the Miss Oklahoma crown, but the thieves also took her other awards like the brooches she received during her various pageant wins.
Betty Thompson said, "This is not just a crown to me, it represents much more. I'm heartbroken that someone would take it. It can never have the same meaning and worth to someone else as it does me. It is irreplaceable. If you have my crown along with the official carrying case and pins, please return them in the condition in which they were taken."
She is exactly right. This crown is very important to her, and it cannot be worth the same to somebody else. It seems like it would be incredibly difficult to get money out of a crown that is so recognizable. Anybody who knows anything about the missing crown can call (405) 714-9464, and there is a $500 reward for any information. The tip line is anonymous.
It is terrible that somebody stole this precious crown and other awards from Thompson. Hopefully whoever took it will return it.
