I have never been able to speak Spanish very well, but a few times, it has helped me in real-life situations.
For example, at my job, I sometimes work in the fitting rooms. And we have to count the items and give everybody a number.
So yesterday, a lady was going into the fitting rooms & I had noticed that her family was speaking Spanish. She didn't seem to understand what I was asking in English...
so I asked, "?Pueudo contar por favor?"
... which means, "May I count please?"
She smiled, and let me count her items.
I was so happy! Okay, my Spanish is primitive, but it does help me occasionally. :)
