This is a fascinating piece of lexicography, and since it is relatively new, you may find some additions that you wish to make.

Steve and Mark-John, my wife and I have a bet as to the number of points you will help me collect. Don't let me down.

How Obama Got Elected... Interviews With Obama Voters
Howard Stern interviews Obama supporters in Harlem
Theres plenty of ignorance on both sides of the political spectrum.
You're right. There is plenty of ignorance on both sides. I have been attacked (actually fired from a job once for being right wing) by both sides so I am motivated to call both ignorant. :-)
And exactly what is the definition of is George?
Goodby.
Meet George's new tactic (or rather his same old tactic, but with a new flair).
Whenever he's decided the discussion has reached a point where common recognition of the rules of good-faith argument demand that he defend his position using something like reasoning or facts, then he simply falls back on a blithe, out-of-hand dismissal of your argument -- same as he's always done, except now he posts an alleged Thomas Paine quote about the futility of arguing with someone who renounces reason, in substitution for the honest, good faith argument of which he is clearly incapable.
I'm not sure if he has the intellectual wherewithal to take note of the irony; that by his insistence on this tactic, he is effectively renouncing the use of reason, since the tactic itself is reliant on the fallacy of Petitio Principii. He declares that he will not argue with you because you have renounced reason, which is proven only by his own implicit assertion that you have renounced reason.
Pretty convenient for George, huh?
George has never gotten much past liberal "clever" He doesn't need to present facts to validate his position all he needs to do is to be witty about it..And he feels vindicated....Which is fine with me...All the fewer facts I need to publically (Gather wise that is) invalidate his position.
Honestly, I don't even find him to be clever; at least not for a grown man posting on topics of profound importance. If this were 3rd period study hall in high school, then yeah; maybe he'd be "clever." But as it is, he just strikes me as rather ignorant, immature, smarmy and insecure.
George,
Yes, yes, I know. Trying to argue with you would be like giving medicine to the dead; you don't have to remind me.
However, I was not trying to argue with you; I wasn't even addressing you.
And though I personally could not care less about Gather points, I realize that for you points acquisition trumps things like the giving or receiving of understanding or resolution of ideological conflict, or any of the potential benefits of good faith debate, so by all means, you're welcome.
Thank you for sharing with Watching The Wind Blow By
Indeed. So I'll say goodbye first.
Just let it go. If Chuck wants George to be the undisputed champion of shutting out and refusing to even address criticism of one's ideology through question-begging, then by all means; let him have it.
