When Dancing with the Stars 2012 resumes April 30 with a night devoted to the smooth sounds of classical music, TV host Maria Menounos will take yet another stab at making the top of the judges' leaderboard. Her vehicles to potential success? The powerful Paso Doble and an impassioned group Tango.
Although Maria and pro partner Derek Hough have delivered a string of mostly well-received routines during their tenure on DWTS, the top spot has eluded them thus far. That could change come Monday, if Maria's many injuries don't stand in the way.
According to a light-hearted April 27 tweet from Derek, he thinks his partner is ready to gnaw away at the competition: "Paso is coming along great this week. Queen Vampire Maria ready to bite !!!" So it sounds like a vampire-themed Paso is in the works, which could be a very wise move for the pair. Blood suckers are popular, after all, so a good (or, honestly, mediocre but well-played) dance could really bring in the votes.
Maria and Derek are also to take part in a group Tango along with three other couples, including opera singer Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas, Disney actor Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower, and actor Jaleel White and Kym Johnson. All four couples have secured good marks on the show, and all four have the dancing chops to win the competition, so the likelihood of them delivering an awesome group dance seem sky-high.
