Our city does a really cool thing twice a year. A ton of restaurants get together and create their own unique, three-course, price-fixed menu. It's a great way to get out and try great new or otherwise too expensive restaurants. It's $25.12 a person for 3 courses and $3.12 of each meal sold is donated to the local Food Bank.
This year, my boyfriend and I won't be able to take advantage of it next week since we will both be crazy busy at work. That means we will only be going out today and tomorrow.
Here's the menu for tonight(that's the other thing I like, I pick where I want to go based on the original menus):
First Course-Choice of 1
salmon carpaccio, shaved watermelon radish, avocado mousse, citrus coriander emulsion
barbeque mackerel japanese style, sticky rice, miso chicken broth, scallion sesame seed seasoning
tempura of local softshell crab, shaved napa cabbage, red onions, carrots, curry vinaigrette
roasted beet and mandarinquat salad, pistachio, duck confit, blue cheese, moscatel vinaigrette
kale and white bean soup, grilled ramps, creme fraiche, smoked paprika oil
Second Course-Choice of 1
sauteed market fish, local asparagus, crispy caramelized onion and parmesan risotto balls, basil parmesan sauce
sauteed sea scallops, creamy yukon gold potato, mushroom and leek ragout, red wine fennel sauce
goat cheese and rosemary tart, mixed baby spring vegetables, roasted hazelnuts, crispy kale
pan roasted beef tri tip, smoked tomato puree, semolina gnocchi, local greens, salsa verde
pork prime rib roast, surry sausage and spring garlic mashed potatoes, warm three bean salad, quince country mustard sauce
Third Course-Choice of 1
chocolate panna cotta, banana cream, peanut butter biscotti
black forest cake, luxardo cream, sour cherry sorbet
angel cake, strawberries, banyuls caramel, basil ice cream
