Selena Gomez may be busy with Justin Bieber but she still balances out her life with work and other things. One of the latest projects she just finished was honoring the original Selena (Quintanilla-Pérez). Selena is one of several singers to add their voice to the deceased Latin songstress' upcoming tribute album Enamorada De Ti.
It's amazing to know that Gomez is still grounded despite being a celebrity with superstar status; she still remembers and values her roots. While other young celebrities are running wild (cough, cough, Miley Cyrus), Gomez has maintained a good reputation and a solid PG relationship (which is astounding in itself).
Quintanilla-Pérez's brother was present during the recording and was blown away by the 19-year-old's performance. Speaking about Gomez, he said, "She did an amazing job. I had the opportunity to talk to her, we did some awards together and I had never met her before in person. And I took the opportunity to go say hello to her. And I want to thank her for coming onto the album. She was named after my sister. That's pretty awesome. Selena with Selena. We want to thank all the Selena Gomez fans that have actually, they've been really, really at it just spreading the word. Hard core fans."
When asked about working on Enamorada De Ti, Gomez said, "I was completely honored when they asked me to be on the tribute CD and when I went into the studio to record they actually had her vocals in the booth that she was in, so I felt like she was singing right next to me. It gave me chills! It was incredible and it was a great experience and it was a great song."
This project only seems to have upsides. It not only broadens Selena Gomez's appeal, it also broadens her fan base. Hopefully her parents and management will continue to gear her towards the positive things in life. It would be tragic if she wound up like Britney Spears because not everyone can bounce back from a meltdown.
