~ Drought ~
for once, I know not what to say
the spring has sprung a leak I fear
I’ve wracked my brain but there’s no way
for once, I know not what to say
I had suspicions there’d come this day
no crowing from this chanticleer
for once, I know not what to say
the spring has sprung a leak I fear
I’ve looked back on my poems of old
perchance to plant some glimmering
perhaps some tale to be retold
I’ve looked back on my poems of old
some oblique thought I can remold
there’s nothing...NOTHING...simmering
I’ve looked back on my poems of old
perchance to plant some glimmering
from desert sere a thought of you
your scent upon sirocco borne
your smiling face comes into view
from desert sere a thought of you
inspires my words to flow anew
my Desert Rose devoid of thorn
from desert sere a thought of you
your scent upon sirocco borne
no longer parched - my words o'erflow
my hymn to you is on my lips
I write for you – pay what I owe
no longer parched - my words o'erflow
your whisper like soft falling snow
sparks fly from my fingertips
no longer parched - my words o'erflow
my hymn to you is on my lips
Today's challenge is to write a triolet. It's an eight-line poem with two repeating lines, so only five original lines. And it has a rhyme-scheme. Read the specifics at the link or ask for clarification in the comment section.
Writers, you all realize how amazing you are? I know you're working hard because lately submissions have been squeaking in just before deadline. As a deadline-writer, I know how hard you are pushing it. And so successfully!
And you are making me agonize over selecting the Poem-of-the-Day. I've wanted to call it a three-way tie. I've wanted to ask the Poet Laureate from 2011 to step in and pick. I've wanted to claim "the link's broken" and not pick anyone because making a choice pulls me until I'm ready to snap.
Keep going, we only have two more challenges after today.
If you are new to this group or contest, go here to learn more and then come back to participate in today's challenge.
Follow these rules:
1. Today's prompt: Use the word plant in any form or permutation (plantation, etc.)
2. Publish so that the date stamped is April 26th with only one stamp-date
3. Tag with MP2012
4. Publish to Mindful Poetry (and other groups as you wish)
