Person of Interest keeps you at the edge of your seat as Michael Emerson (Finch) tells the audience, "You are being watched" with a machine that he built and Jim Caviezel (Reese), a trained killer. Together these two men will keep you wondering in this drama where they star as good guys with the wonders of modern technology and two detectives on their side who work side by side, but have no idea of the other's affiliation with Finch and Reese.
In this episode Reese is talking to a woman named Jessica on the phone in a flashback. Now in real time, he is speaking to Detective Carter at a bar. He is watching a couple kissing when a woman comes in and shoots at the man. Just then Finch calls Reese to tell him that there is a new name coming in; a new Person of Interest.
Now Detective Carter is suspicious of Detective Fusco who is working with Finch and Reese as a crooked cop working with a group of bad cops called HR. Reese discusses telling Carter about Fusco, but Finch does not want to risk having too many people knowing the details of their operation.
In a flashback, Reese was working with the CIA and was being sent to China to retrieve a computer program with his partner. Before they leave, he is told he must kill his partner, a woman who is dealing with the enemy. Now Reese is undercover as an armored truck guard that is scheduled to be held up at any time now. After they make three stops, including one where they pick up millions in platinum, the truck explodes, overturns, and they are accosted by two masked men. Reese manages to shoot them until he is shot by the security guard he was riding with. Reese and the driver of the armored truck are left for dead when the three take off in the truck.
Detective Carter comes to the hospital to get Reese as Finch calls her asking about Reese. She puts him on the phone and now he tells Finch to find Tommy and his accomplices before they hurt anyone else.
Reese tracks Tommy via a virus Finch sent to his phone and finds both of his accomplices dead. As Finch hears the door open, he grabs Detective Fusco who was sent by HR who set up the heist. When Reese finally meets up with Tommy, his girlfriend, the waitress in the diner where they hang out pulls a gun on Reese just as he caught him. But as he is tying Reese up, she shoots Tommy in the back. Then Fusco and his boss show up and he sees Reese tied up and slaps him around. Fusco tells him to just leave him, as Fusco shoots him in the head with her gun giving an excellent alibi of why he was killed.
