When American Idol 2012 continued on April 25, the top 6 were charged with delivering two top-notch performances. After cranking out a Queen tune that rocked the house, hopeful Elise Testone drew a mix of hefty criticism and praise for her second pick of a lesser-known Jimi Hendrix song.
Prior to the performance, Elise's fellow Idol wanna-bes shared some observations about the blonde-haired 28-year-old. Skylar Laine shared that "she laughs after everything she says" and Joshua Ledet agreed. Jessica Sanchez noted how she does the "Mariah Carey hand movements", and Phillip Phillips agreed as he likened her to a "sniper trying to kill the notes".

Wearing a pretty blue dress, a contrasting sunshine-reminiscent scarf, a chunky bejeweled necklace and plenty of sparkly golden eye shadow, Elise hit took to the stage to sing her personal pick, "Bold as Love". It was amusing to see her do the note-pointing thing her fellow finalists had observed. In terms of the performance itself, she had some really nice runs, but it wasn't a big wow.
Steven Tyler said she "touched his heart" but chastised her for not singing "a familiar song". The remark shocked Elise, who thought everyone knew it. Jennifer Lopez got Steven's point, but thought she'd "slayed it so hard" that it didn't matter. She called her one of the best singers in the competition. Randy Jackson called himself a huge fan of Hendrix and Elise, but didn't like the song choice. He found her attack too aggressive, but Jennifer disagreed, calling the interpretation "exciting".
Will Elise Testone escape the bottom three this week? Watch the American Idol 2012 top 6 results show Thursday night on FOX to find out.
