A Justin Bieber fan site recently featured an original pen and ink drawing of the "Boyfriend" singer. Of course, that in itself is nothing new. Beliebers send cartoons, drawings, and paintings of the Teen Dream to the fan sites all the time. The interesting thing about this particular piece of artwork is that it wasn't submitted by a fan. Justin drew it. Yes, Selena Gomez's man can now add portrait artist to his burgeoning list of achievements. On a recent visit to Big FM Deutschlands, JB took pen in hand, drew a quick likeness of himself, and even signed it. (Wonder how long it will be before it's put on the auction block?) With all due respect to the Biebs' latest hobby, his drawing is more of a cartoon than a portrait. It's not terribly realistic. In fact, it's less a representation of the way Justin Bieber looks than the way he wishes he looked. Or maybe it's the way he intends to look someday.
As you can see by clicking here, Justin's quickly penned self-portrait depicted him as a huge super-muscular bodybuilder. He looks like he's ready to swagger onto the stage at this year's Mr. Olympia competition, or at the very least, to audition for a place in the WWE. Although Cartoon Biebs' physique is a trifle asymmetrical, he is massive. His biceps are enormous, and his forearms rival Popeye's. His pecs are well-defined; his waist is slim and trim, and he sports a definite six-pack. To Justin's artistic credit, his face is a spot on match.
Justin Bieber seems to be increasingly preoccupied with his physique lately. A recent fan photo of a shirtless, ripped Biebs showed that he's been working out like crazy. And now, he draws an idealized picture of himself as a super-buff muscle guy. All this raises the question: Is his new preoccupation with body image for his fans? Or is it for Selena Gomez?
Oh, well, whatever his motivations for building his body, it looks like JB will have to double or even quadruple his gym time if he hopes to achieve the kind of physique he created for himself on paper. He's already made a good start. And Never Say Never.
