Just hours before the American Idol 2012 top 6 Queen-themed performance show is set to air on FOX, the hit reality show's official Twitter handle tweeted a sneak peek at what's in store. Here's a look at the list of songs slated to be crooned by the likes of Skylar Laine, Jessica Sanchez and the rest of the Idol gang.
The first round of evening will feature the contestants singing tunes made famous by the legendary band Queen. Included in the mix are the hits "The Show Must Go On", "Fat Bottomed Girls", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Save Me", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and "I Want it All". The identity of each singer remains undisclosed as usual, one thing's for sure: All of these songs present a tall order for the young hopefuls, particularly the cult classic "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Round two will see the hopefuls singing songs from their personal wheel houses. Listed are Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father", "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus, India Arie's "Ready for Love", "Bold as Love" by Jimi Hendrix, and Jason Aldean's "Tattoos on this Town". A single mystery remains, as the sixth tune is listed simply as "The (blank)" by the (blank) (blank) Band.
So who's singing what? As the only country singer left in the mix, the Aldean song seems best suited to Skylar. Additionally, it would be shocking to see anyone but gospel guy Joshua Ledet sing "Dance with My Father". It's distressing to think that anyone chose a Miley Cyrus song, but the most likely culprit is probably Hollie Cavanagh. India Arie seems a good match for the stylings of Elise Testone, while Hendrix doesn't seem like a stretch for Phillip Phillips. That leaves teen Jessica with the mystery selection.
To see how the finalists fare, tune in to American Idol 2012 tonight at 8 PM on FOX.
