It turns out that Miss Dominican Republic is married. Because of that, the beauty queen will lose her crown and title. Carlina Duran won the title on April 17, but the rules of the pageant state that contestants must be single. Duran has been married since June 6, 2009.
The new Miss Dominican Republic will be Dulcita Lieggi. What an exciting day this must be for her to get to take over the duties and the title of the pageant winner. It is too bad that Carlina Duran cheated her way into the contest. Why would she lie about being married?
Now Lieggi, instead of Duran, will represent the Dominican Republic in the Miss Universe pageant. It is sure to be a whirlwind of fun and activity, and it must be thrilling to get the crown that is rightfully hers even if it is several days after the pageant is over.
Do you wonder why Duran lied about her marriage status? It seems strange that she would even consider competing in Miss Dominican Republic when she was so obviously a Mrs.
