Now that the one of two real talents who could become successful in the music world, Colton Dixon, has been eliminated by the 12 year olds voting, I thought I'd go back and check out the top 6 from the last five seasons of American Idol. Go, Phillip Phillips!
--------
I didn't watch Season 1 and Season 3, what I call the Nightmare of Fantasia Year, is too painful to review again, so instead of doing all the seasons, I did the last 5 out of 10.
Top 6 from American Idol Season 8
Actually, this is the top 5, because two contestants were eliminated the week before:
- Kris Allen
- Allison Iraheta
- Matt Giraud
- Danny Gokey
- Adam Lambert
By the pictures, I guess you can tell I like to refer to Season 8 as:
American Idol "HOW COULD ADAM LAMBERT NOT HAVE WON" Season 8!
---------
Here's a piece I wrote about it after getting over the initial shock over Adam Lambert's loss:
Adam Lambert was the best thing to happen to American Idol. He had the voice, the talent, the appeal, the stage presence, and attracted fans from all ages.
Everyone discussing the show that year was certain he was going to win. In fact, they all insisted he had to win.
Imagine the collective gasp of surprise among its millions of viewers, when Ryan Seacrest announced that Chris Allen was the new American Idol, on the night of the season 8 finale.
That season, no one thought Adam Lambert could lose. In previous seasons, fans always had their doubts, right up until the moment Ryan opened revealed the winner's name.
It leaves us wondering whether American Idol will be able to do it again. Will they 'jump the shark' again or was Adam Lambert's loss the defining moment for the show, when everyone realized the show will never be the same."
