Mariah Carey is nothing if not burning hot on the May cover of Shape magazine--and it's no wonder either. She has lost a total of 70 pounds. The Jenny Craig spokesperson acknowledges just how hard it was to reach that weight loss goal, too.
According to a report from Fox News, Carey--mom to twins Monroe and Moroccan, and husband to Nick Cannon, found herself with lots of weight to lose following the birth of her
babies. This has given her a great deal of empathy for all women who need to lose a substantial amount of weight.
"I put on 70 lbs. but if you look at me in pictures you'd think it was more like 9,000 lbs. I have a lot of empathy with people who have to lose a lot of weight," she says.
She has also learned that age combined with motherhood can really do a number on a woman's body.
"I used to be able to slim down just by exercising more, but that's changed. Since having the babies, I realise that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet," she adds.
Mariah Carey is now well aware of the mental battle women wage when they are striving to lose significant weight. And even though she relied on Jenny Craig to help her lose the pounds, the mind over matter facet was all hers to fight.

Doesn't she look fantastic? She no doubt stuck to a strenuous workout routine in addition to the diet and the grueling mental challenge. It appears like it was well worth the effort, however. The weight loss makes her look not only hot and healthy, but several years younger as well.
Congratulations to Mariah on a difficult job well done!
