The Vampire Diaries season 3 is heading for an explosive ending, and episode 21, "Before Sunset," is going to be part of that. Klaus is still hell-bent on using Elena to create his hybrid enemy, but will someone get in his way?

"Klaus acts on his intentions to leave town with Elena (Nina Dobrev), but finds resistance from a surprising new enemy. Bonnie (Kat Graham) calls on Abby (guest star Persia White) to help her with a difficult spell. As events spiral out of control, Elena is determined to protect Caroline (Candice Accola), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) enlist Tyler's (Michael Trevino) help, while Bonnie and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) take a terrifying risk to make sure her spell is effective. Damon and Stefan have a surprisingly candid conversation about the future."
That episode description has been out for a week and a half now, but now there are "Before Sunset" promotional photos out as well to shed some light on what's going on in this episode. Klaus may be determined to take Elena from Mystic Falls with him, but there are going to be obstacles in his way—and that seems to be what's in the photos, which don't show Nina Dobrev at all but are likely from scenes that are at least somewhat about her character Elena.
In the Vampire Diaries season 3 episode 21 photos, Stefan finds Damon supporting Bonnie on the other side of the door, Jeremy finds Klaus at the door, Stefan of course talks to Klaus, and Stefan protects Bonnie from something as they lay on the floor with what seems to be shattered glass around them. Could whatever spell Bonnie does weaken her and leave her in a state where she needs Damon to support her? Is it somehow connected to keeping Elena safe from Klaus so he can't take her away so he can use her to create his hybrid army? Is Klaus there looking for Elena or perhaps looking for Bonnie because of whatever spell she did? Could an attack from the Original be what leads to the picture of Stefan and Bonnie on the floor?
With this being the penultimate episode of the season, you expect big things to happen, and it looks like the CW series isn't going to disappoint. What will Bonnie and Jeremy have to do to make her spell effective? Will that be something that happens before Damon shows up with her at the door or will that happen later on?
