Zayn Malik and Liam Payne recently gave an interview with 3 News in New Zealand together, and Zayn had a surprising answer when he was asked about the fans threatening the father of a One Direction U.S. band member.
Some Directioners are upset because an American band also called One Direction is suing Zayn and Liam's band because the guys won't change the name of their group. The father of one of the boys in the American band also manages the gr
oup, so since he's behind the lawsuit, some Directioners have been threatening him.
Zayn and Liam were asked about the American band, and they said that they didn't know much about what was going on with the lawsuit. Liam Payne called the situation a "bit of a coincidence" and a "misunderstanding," and he and Zayn Malik were obviously trying to take the high ground by not saying anything bad about the other One Direction.
The guys were also asked about the Directioners who threatened the life of the band's manager. Liam called the situation "horrible" and pointed out that his girlfriend Danielle Peazer also got a few death threats when they first started going out. He also said this:
"I think it's the nature of the internet, really. I think being behind a computer screen a lot of people can be very brave."
However, Zayn Malik had a different view on the fans going after the American boy band. He interrupted Liam to say this:
"I think they're just very passionate as well, though. I think our fans are just very passionate, and sometimes passion can come across as something a little bit different."
So Zayn loves Directioners so much that he'll even stand up for those willing to kill for the band. He might want to reconsider his stance on this matter—any kind of internet bullying isn't cool, especially when death threats are concerned. He might end up sharing Liam Payne's view someday when he gets a girlfriend of his own who has to deal with crazy Twitter stalkers.
On a lighter note, there was a hilarious moment during the interview when Zayn tried to pronounce "bungee jumping." Liam and Louis Tomlinson decided to try the extreme sport in New Zealand, but apparently Zayn decided he'd be better off not doing something he can't pronounce. When he tried to spit out the words, it came out like this: "BUN-gin joom-pin." One Directioner was so delighted at the way that he said it that she turned his pronunciation into a YouTube video. Those interested in hearing Zayn say "bungee jumping" over and over again can do so below. And hopefully more Directioners will put their energy toward creating funny videos and tributes to One Direction instead of getting angry and threatening people.
