Rap star Ice Cube recently mentioned the 2Pac hologram that was seen at the Coachella 2012 concert this past weekend. The legendary West Coast rapper brought up how he might be able to use the technology for his own purposes as well.
The Tupac Shakur hologram was seen giving shout-outs, dancing around, and spitting lyrics out for two of his songs Sunday night. At one point the "spitting image" rapped through his verse of "Gangsta Party" with the real Snoop Dogg on stage. Fans have continued to talk about the image they saw for days, and now other rap stars are giving their thoughts as well. That includes Ice Cube, famous for being part of the group NWA which featured Dr. Dre way back when. Cube was discussing an upcoming performance, but brought up this revolutionary new concert idea, saying:
"I heard about the technology but to see someone putting it to use is pretty cool. It's a way for people to see The Beatles and Michael Jackson and stuff like that.
To me it looked like one day I'll be able to do a concert in two places at once.
Some people dig the technology and some people treasure the original performance - but for now it's just a camera illusion that's pretty cool."
Ice Cube may have the right idea, which is sort of scary too. However, celebs may be hitting up Dr. Dre's email and cellphone to have him help them design their own "doppelgänger" style holograms. People like Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, and Lindsay Lohan just might want to fool the paparazzi. Or they may want to fool fans at concerts, making it look like they're really performing, while they're doing something else. The technology could have plenty of uses, both good and bad, for people all over the planet. For now, it continues to be a "what if" sort of discussion.
As for Ice Cube, it's clear he's in awe of this 2Pac hologram just like several other rappers who have praised Dr. Dre for it. Despite the fact that many people tend to put down the hip hop genre, you've certainly got to give credit where it's due for trying new things and bringing Tupac back to life for fans!
