Louis Tomlinson Talks his Carrot Fetish and Zayn Malik Dishes on Dating Fans (Video)

Louis Tomlinson was recently asked by Ten News in Australia why some One Direction fans were dressed like carrots outside the studio—after all, it doesn't seem like emulating a vegetable is the best way to win over a teen boy.

However, many Directioners are already well aware of why the girls were dressed like orange roots, and here's what Louis said about the kooky costumes:

On week one of The X Factor, I decided to say that I like girls who eat carrots. At the time I thought it was quirky and funny. It turned out to be neither of those things.

Girls have been dressing like carrots and throwing carrots at One Direction ever since Louis Tomlinson made his goofy claim about what attracts him to a woman, but even though he thinks it was a silly thing to say now, he didn't ask fans to stop with all the carrot craziness. Instead Louis said that he would never tell Directioners to shun carrots because "kids are starting to eat more carrots, and that's very, very healthy living, which is something I endorse."

So would Louis and the rest of One Direction consider dating fans who fling carrots at them, or are they looking for dates who aren't Directioners? Zayn Malik was the first to answer when asked if the guys would date fans, and Directioners will love his answer. Here's what Zayn said:

If you like someone, you like them regardless if they're a fan or not. And I think it would always be an advantage if they like your music.

Louis then chimed in to say it would be "awkward" if a girl wasn't a fan of One Direction's music, and all the other guys seemed to agree. So at least all Directioners share "One Thing" that the guys find desirable.

But unfortunately it will be difficult for any fan to get close to Zayn Malik or Louis since they're usually surrounded by crowds of other screaming Directioners. That's probably why Liam Payne is dating dancer Danielle Peazer, why Louis Tomlinson is dating model Eleanor Calder, and why Harry Styles dated TV host Caroline Flack—it's easier to meet girls in the entertainment industry in settings where they can get to know them.
