NORMA'S CAFE ~ SUNDAY ~ UPDATE ON NORMA

Hello everyone.  I just got my internet back. Last night's storm here took it down.  We had rain and lots of lightening which must have damamged my DSL company's equipment.   I have news about Norma and Donald and will just post their daughter Tracy's message here.

Tracy's message:I wanted to update everyone since its been so long. My mom is doing about the same, her BP is still high and she is still on the vent to breath. She made it almost 18 hrs breathing on her own a few days ago then went back into respitory failure so they put her back on the machine to breath for her . She is having problems with the feeding tube, she's not absorbing the food so they tried a IV type nutrition but that didn't work either. Her blood sugar is 500 and they are concerned and trying to get that down. So please keep her in your prayers. My brother is driving in tomorrow from Florida to help me because I'm so overly stressed. Now to break the bad news to you all.
On Thursday Donald was admitted into the hospital in Houston for a severe kidney/urinary infection. He is so sick with a extremely high fever, he's now septic and his kidneys have stopped functioning. They have him intubated and sedated. The dr's say he has another source of infection besides the kidneys and are trying to find it. They are going to start dialysis if the fluids don't kick in and make his kidneys work. He is in critical condition and they must also make sure his heart is not affected since he already has a heart condition. Please pray for him. I can't stand seeing my parents like this and I don't want to loose them both.

At this point there is little we  can do except pray for both Donald and Norma. Lord, please keep them in your care and help them to heal. Give safe travel to Norma's son as he travels from FLorida to be with them and keep Tracy strong. Amen.

I will be in the Cafe with all the usual drinks ready for you when you stop in.  We are having VERY strong winds today and more sotrms tonight so I hope I don't lose my internet again.  I will update you on the Decorah eagles tomorrow.  It's VERY windy up there too.

We were lucky here, just my internet. My daughters in Kansas and Oklahoma were also spared.

Haven't had one in our area in a long time, hope we don't not sure where I WOULD GO. WE don't have a basement there isn't a warning system in our area.

The sirens went off twice last evening here. I don't have a basement either so it is in an inside clset for me.

up to 74 today, kinda damp day, spitting a little bit, not really raining. just a little spitting. temp has been going up and down, supposed to go down in the 50 one day this week the back up.

It stormed here all day yesterday and the winds have been fierce today. We are in the warning zone so don't know what tonight will bring.

Thanks Nancy. I know Tracy and Donald were both just worn out from being with Norma and Tracy working besides. Now with Donald in the hospital it is doubly hard. I hope they get his kidneys to start functioning again.

I am so sorry to hear all this about Norma and Donald. I know their daughter and son are beside themselves. Thanks, Audrey for keeping us updated.

I heard about all the storms. Nora D. is in Des Moines and they had a terrible storm there. She and hubby were out of town but their son was home. He said it was unbelievable. They had downed trees but lucky no one was hurt.

Glad you and your daughters were kept out of harm's way.

Hi Audrey! We have had tons of destruction around here....our huge front tree got split, ended up in the street, forcing our street to shut down.....it was just horrible..........huge, huge branches, ALL over the place....what a nightmare (please go read my long post that I did today on the storm and destruction here!)......the guys were out with chain saws this morning chopping up all the branches--what a humongous mess!!!!! Winds last night were horrible...60 to 80 mph!!!!
OMG.......I am just shocked and saddened to hear not only about Norma, but now about Donald as well......this just breaks my heart terribly.........I feel so helpless, in that I'm not able to do anything.......but I will keep them in my prayers.......for miracles to happen......and pray they both will recover.
Yeah, I guess there are more storms predicted for tonight.......I am just praying that the rest of our huge tree doesn't go down....on top of our house!!!!!!! Please take care, and stay safe, Audrey!

Nora, read your windy article. lol I'm glad the tree didn't hit your house. I know what kind of mess you had because we had a huge tree go down in100 mph straight line winds about 12 years ago and it fell across the street. We ended up having the entire tree taken down because what was left was just asking for trouble.

LOL!!!!! Well, I think we're going to have to have the rest of our huge tree taken down, as yes, we're in the same position.....what's left IS just asking for trouble. There are a few guys at our church that do tree work......our pastor called and said that they're going to try to get over tomorrow......couldn't today, as I guess our church campgrounds got hit badly, and everybody's out there this afternoon (there's a book sale that's supposed to start on Tues. or Wed.!!!).......geesh....what next?!!

Thank you all for the prayers. I'm just leaving the hospital now from seeing Donald , I've made a short trip around the world today or so it feels. They started Donald on dialysis and they inserted a tube in his gallbladder to drain it because they feel that may be the other source of infection. He is very critical. His liver and lungs have been compromised from the infection. At this time they say his chances of survival are slim but they are trying everything possible to get him well. I hope we have good news tomorrow on Donald and my mom. Only God knows the plan for them both but he knows I need my parents and I'm praying for a miracle to heal them.

I've been reading and reading. Norma is enduring a lot to hang on, it sounds like. And now Donald in the hospital too. Continued prayers for their family, as well as friends.
