weird tracks in the snow

UPDATE:

Someone suggested mouse trails, which seems possible, but I'm not convinced. They're so straight and seem to start up and stop without rhyme or reason. And sometimes there are a whole bunch of them, criss-crossing each other, in a space 3 or 4 feet square.

I've been finding weird tracks in the snow.

I've never seen anything like them before.

I can't show you a picture because they don't show up in my photos, b ut I can describe them for you.

They look as if some tiny creature were walking on skis, and t hose skis are about 18 inches long and one inch wide.

Any ideas about what could have made those tracks?

that was my response when I first saw the tracks -- and whatever it is, it seems to be able to jump over a six-foot fence

I think it's mouse trails -- so much snow has melted that I can't check for the tell-tale tiny footprints, but I think it really is mouse trails

Maybe it's some kind of bird, who drags his tail? He could fly over the fence, too???
