When Dancing with the Stars 2012 resumes April 16 on ABC, Little House on the Prairie actress Melissa Gilbert will indeed be among the performers, despite sustaining a head injury during week 4. In fact, the resilient star promised fans that a super hot Salsa would serve as her comeback vehicle with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Melissa tweeted the promise to fans Sunday morning, writing "my salsa w/ @MaksimC es muy caliente!!& what's the best thing 2 do when u fall off a horse?Get rt back on.Watch 4 it at the end of our dance". What the duo has planned for the end of their routine is a mystery, but comeback performances are always heartstring-tuggers, so expect passable judges' scores no matter what happens.
Injury aside, Melissa and Maks have been among the poorer performers of the bunch on DWTS season 14. Melissa hasn't looked especially comfortable in the ballroom and some of her dances have had a distinctive frenetic feel, as if she's struggled just to keep up and remember her choreography.
On top of that, Melissa faces fierce competition from a handful of surprisingly talented castmates, including Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver and Disney star Roshon Fegan.
On the upside, she's yet to appear in the bottom two—that ominous distinction belongs to just two surviving couples, including Fegan and partner Chelsie Hightower and singer Gavin DeGraw and his partner Karina Smirnoff—but unless she raises the bar, that won't be the case for much longer.
To see how Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy fare on Dancing with the Stars 2012 week 5, watch the show tomorrow at 8 PM on ABC.
