the basic points in this article are:
the Republican Party USA has drifted so far to the right of the political spectrum over the past 30 years that it is now the most conservative that it has ever been over the past 100 years
the Democratic Party USA has NOT drifted an equal distance to the left of the political spectrum
despite the obviousness of the deficit problem, neither party has been eager to actually address it during the past two years. (okay, it is true that the deep recession was in the way- but with the recession fading, the willingness is still not there)
most likely outcome in November? Obama wins a narrow victory, but Republicans keep hold of the House and are essentially dead even with Dems in the Senate. Compromise remains out of reach, and despite some overtures from Obama, both parties focus on the next election as regards the deficit.
sorry to be so negative, but that's what the researcher found.

Oh NO Walker! Terrible judgment. Terrible. :(
Conservatives have done all we can to impede our Presidents Administration from dragging us kicking and screaming into Socialism.
Course the rest of your comment shows some confusion :)
For examples of how bad things can get check out the history of, say Germany in the early 1920s or Russia/USSR in 1917-1922 or France in the early days of their Revolution or Rome on several occasions during the Republic. A combination of economic and political collapse (you don't get one without the other) is incredibly destructive.
Larry, "A Great Depression for the world but centered in the U.S. Replacement of our elected government with a "strong man" rule. Suspension of the Bill of Rights for the "duration of the emergency." Massive civil disorder. Breakdown of basic utilities and food distribution."
You're right Larry!! That is EXACTLY nose on. That is where we are all headed right now. Couldn't believe our current President arranged where he could take power over & run us like he wants to. Right, very destructive.
But at least the Conservatives are saddled and on their way to put an end to this nonsense!! :)
Would you rather have absolute power over a rotting dunghill or be the most honored and respected in a thriving world community? Would you rather be king of a pig sty or George Washington?
Obama is not a "strong man." If he were quite a few members of Congress would have disappeared by now. Rush and friends would not be heard. Glen Beck would be in an institution. We would have only good news about government on the media.
Calling someone a Czar does not give them autocratic power.
If you can't tell that big money interests are running this Administration please explain why none of the executives at Lehman Brothers have been arrested and convicted of fraud? (I hope you saw "60 minutes" last night.) Why has the financial services industry not been regulated? Why is it "business as usual" on Wall Street? Why the huge subsidies for very profitable industries? Why so many big corporations are paying no income tax?
If Obama could circumvent Congress why don't we have a single payer health care plan in place?
I hope that the election in Nov. will take even more power from them so we the people, not corporations, can move forward.
Oh no ... I'm so disappointed Robert. And you used to be so sharp. :(
The only hope is the Ron Paul r3VOLution, which includes anyone running on a platform similar to his. It will be awhile before it has any real power, until then we are screwed.
They ought to be a shamed receiving their taxpayer funded healthcare and salaries.

No, no Lloyd. They aren't an abject failure! They kept our country from going 1 foot further to the left. Pretty cool, huh? :) Well, they've gone a few inches. Rats!!!
Why David? We ARE Conservative. Liberals have moved us far left of our Constitution, we are reacting by pulling America back toward the Constitution. That's not extreme.
It's looking like a bunch of other presidential elections to me. All that matters is who will get to make appointments to the Supreme Court. On that basis the choice is easy.
NIPPY, "All in all I'd prefer a miserable second term for Obama"
No, no. I can't take it. However... "All that matters is who will get to make appointments to the Supreme Court." Right you are.
He is just not palatable to the majority of the American electorate.
He is just not palatable to the majority of the American electorate.
If you look at the polls of Obama v. Paul, it's very close (just like it is with Romney). Your statement should read that Paul is not palatable to the majority of Republicans.
If you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. Democrats have just begun to fight. And we welcome the challenge.
Cry me a river.
I find it offensive when people act like that, and give no chance for dialogue. But I won't get out of the kitchen; it's not a matter of taking heat, it's about maturity.
Now you want the dialogue to change. Have you listened to those whom oppose the President? Have you read what they have written? It's mudslinging 109!
It's too late to put this genie back into the box. It's impossible to have a civil debate with those whom oppose the President. That is why we now choose to fight fire with fire.
Cookie and I have never discussed anything prior to this post, as far as I know. So you might think we could start out without the personal attacks. C'mon, are you seriously defending that? Is that going to help your guy win?
I am not even a Paul supporter, but I know those things you said are not true. I happen to think he is of very sound character and would defend your rights better than the liberals, who would slice and dice YOU in an instant if you did not speak their copycat lies for them. Just look at the black conservatives, how they treat them!
Equal work for equal pay IS impossible to legislate. I believe that. I strongly believe employers have the right to hire or not hire anyone for any reason. If you want a free country that is the way is should be.
And since we were not employing the legal definition of slander, I don't regret using the word. It gets the point across, your nitpicking is just a distraction.
Should be interesting.
