Titanic Sank 100 Years Ago Today

On this date in history, April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic sank carrying over 1,500 souls with her.

The ship was built to be unsinkable, but it hit an iceberg and went down on its maiden voyage.

Countless movies, books, stories and you name it have been about the Titanic.

It seems to get more famous as the years go by.

2,224 people were on the Titanic when it went down.

Of those, only 710 survived.

When I was a child I met one of the survivors but I don't remember much about it.

The oldest movie, one I saw as a child was the best I've seen. No matter how far cinema and special effects go, I thought that movie, in black and white the most moving. Perhaps it was because my young heart was more tender, as even the Bible says our hearts grow hard with age. I still think though, the old masters, in their simpler mediums were even more the masters of great story telling! Thank you for reminding us all, the costs progress has had. I think maybe I saw, "A night to Remember" ?? They say now was classified as docudrama.

It's hard to believe nowadays that anything would be considered unsinkable.

I was reading about one of the boys that was saved, who was only six at the time, died later at the age of 9 in a car accident. You don't think about things like that. You imagine those who were saved living a nice, long life.
