On April 13, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were mobbed by fans in Boca Raton, Florida at an event for JB's Pencils of Promise charity. Although his appearance was supposed to be a secret, hundreds of Beliebers somehow discovered his destination and arrival date. Many of them had been camped out for hours, ready to weep, scream, and chase after his SUV the moment he showed up. What they might not have anticipated however was seeing their idol arrive with his Spring Breakers lady-love, but that's exactly what they got.
Although La Gomez was nowhere in sight on the photos snapped of Justin and Alfredo Flores boarding Florida-bound flights at LAX on April 12, she was definitely in the car with Justin on the way to St. Andrew's School where the ceremony took place. However, Selena kept an extremely low profile throughout the trip. And so, in a way, did Justin Bieber. Although he belted out an a capella chorus or two of his signature hit, Baby, he wasn't there to entertain. He was there to congratulate and present an award to the real stars of the afternoon—the three St. Andrews students who raised an unbelievable $51,738 for Pencils of Promise. Pencils of Promise is an organization that builds schools for underprivileged kids all around the globe. Later that evening, Justin described his admiration for the St. Andrew's students' hard work and generous spirits.
"met some amazing kids who are helping change the world with their work with @pencilsofpromis," Justin Tweeted. " - #MAKEACHANGE"
So, there you have it. Whether Justin and Selena will linger in Florida or return almost immediately to L.A. is unknown. But, as one St. Andrew's student explained when asked why she loved Justin Bieber, not many busy celebrities would have taken the time to attend such an event. JB did. And, as you can see on the video by clicking here, his presence was greatly and gratefully appreciated.
You go, Biebs.
