Christians shoot their wounded!

I heard from a pastor that only Christians shot their wounded. What did he mean? Here's an example.

My best friend was a prayer leader at her church. She is very devout, but last July she lost her husband of forty years. She is having a tough time getting past it, and she has developed a nevous shaking.

Last week, the pastor told her he wanted her to step down from her position as a prayer leader because she is not setting a good example with her nervous condition.

He knows what he did was wrong, but that doesn't help.

Maybe the pastor needs to step down! His actions don't befit a supposed man of god.

I guess he missed the part in the Bible about loving one another and not judging lest ye be judged. Sometimes when people see someone suffer and with the grace of God go on and get through it, it can really be a great witness of faith and love for the Lord. I think he is hung up on "appearances" and that is really sad... I think he needs more prayers than she does... for that cold heart of his.

I hope she realizes how much God loves her and that this pastor is a man... and what he said was wrong..

I learned not long ago that Jonathan Edwards, a theologian and preacher from the 1700s, had a coughing spell each and every time he preached because he had asthma. I thought was fascinating.

Yes, Christians do seem to abandon their own. We are not perfect people.

something is wrong there.....maybe he meant it in a nice way such as taking a break but it came out all wrong? I hope your friend is doing ok.

Our church isn't like that at all. They gather around people that are having issues and help. They are the only ones that brought food after Taylor died.

My church has been super helpful to me. I consider people from my church the family I wish I'd have. WE live nowhere near my family. People from my church have adopted my kids for grandparents day, treated them like grandchildren, and treated my husband and I like relatives.

However, our new pastor has not been a pastor I can live with. It's been very difficult. I think sometimes people go into the ministry for all of the wrong reasons. Who knows why he said it. It could have been that she needed to step down for a while for her own good to take time to heal. But, if he actually said she was a bad example, that is an issue that the board should take him to task for.
