This was breaking news at about 8:15 pm, I was watching Missing on our ABC Boston affiliate WCVB Channel 5 and it was scrolling across the bottom of the screen that 4 police officers were shot and there was a stand off in the sea coast town of Greenland.
I saw Greenland and immediately called my sister because Greenland is the next town over and only a couple miles from where she lives and she knows people and frequents many of the businesses in her area. My nieces had a function at school tonight and because one of the roads were closed the principle had to announce that something was going on that involved the police and the road was closed. He didn't want to into too much detail with a cafeteria full of middle school students.
I watched the story unravel live on the news from 10 til 12. There was a total of 5 officers shot and sadly one of them, the chief of police that was scheduled to retire on April 20, was fatally wounded. He was only 48 years old!
Here is the link for the New Hampshire ABC Affiliate WMUR Channel 9 for the whole story, photos and updates. 5 Officers Shot - WMUR
Send some prayers to the families and the town of Greenland, its a small, close knit town.

My daughter's, kindergarten teacher's husband was one of two officers who were killed last year in the same incident He was 39 and left three children. She was wonderful to my daughter who is learning disabled...and I just couldn't believe it when I recognized the last name.
