I was lucky enough to have 3 tickets to see the sneak peak of the movie The Lucky One, based on the book by Nicholas Sparks. The movie stars a very in shape Zac Efron (former Disney goldenboy), Taylor Shilling, Jay R. Ferguson, and the wonderful Blythe Danner. Us moms dumped our kids for a girl's night out, and we weren't disappointed.
From the movie website: U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive—a photograph he found of a woman he doesn't even know. Learning her name is Beth (Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.
The movie evoked a wide variety of emotions in the viewer, from the horror of war to the out loud laughing of some of Blythe Danner's lines. Susan and Tracy both agreed that this movie was pretty good...about 4 1/2 stars. We all agreed that Zac Efron grew up to be a very good looking guy...and he's 24 now, so I don't feel bad saying it. The movie is rated PG13 for the sex scene...it's not graphic but you know what is happening. There is NO bad language, which is a rarity for a PG13 movie. The movie runs 100 minutes, but add in the previews, it'll go a total of 2 hrs. Yes, we saw previews, but I can't remember what we saw. The previews weren't any of the movies that I wanted to see, except maybe Dark Shawdows.
