Right now on How I Met Your Mother, Robin's single, Barney's with Quinn (and they're getting pretty serious), and that future wedding still looms large. What's coming up in the season finale, which will return to that future wedding, and beyond?
HIMYM Season 7 Finale (and Season 8) Spoilers
Barney's future bride is going to be revealed in the season finale, and many fans are hoping it turns out to be Robin. While there still hasn't been anything revealed about that, executive producer Carter Bays has revealed to TVLine, "There will be a new romance for [Robin] next year, definitely. We already have some ideas for that." Does that mean anything for the identity of Barney's future bride? Even if she finds a new romance of her own, that doesn't mean that Barney and Robin still couldn't be the ones to get married. If that does turn out to be the case, it could just mean that fans would know while watching that the new romance won't be going anywhere. There is still the possibility that Barney could be marrying someone other than Robin, and he has been getting serious with Quinn. He even let slip how long he was seeing the relationship going in the most recent episode, "Trilogy Time."
Meanwhile, before the new romance for Robin, there is something else to look forward to in the season 7 finale besides the reveal of the woman Barney will be marrying, as Bays revealed, "In the finale, we pay off something we set up in the episode 'Disaster Averted.'" That episode saw the slap total being added to, and in the end, there were still slaps left. Marshall had commented that slaps could come in handy with a baby on the way, and with Lily giving birth before the season's over, could Marshall use one of those slaps when dealing with Barney on little sleep with a newborn in the house?
