Melissa Etheridge's break from spouse Tammy Lynn Etheridge is getting ugly. Now Tammy claims she can't live on the paltry $23,000 a month Melissa wants to pay for alimony and child support. She wants more--$77,000 more--for a total of $100,000 per month.

The almost ex Mrs. Etheridge thinks the sum is reasonable given the lifestyle to which she's become accustom. According to her figures, her average monthly living rate was closer to $128,000. While she's willing to forgo a bit of that amount, she doesn't think she should have to turn loose of so much.
Tammy says Melissa "has extensive resources at her disposal and a tremendous earning capacity." She claims to have "...limited income and almost no savings" herself.
Melissa and Tammy were together for nine years and have two children. They are twins Johnnie Rose and Miller, age five. The money paid by Melissa is also counted as child support for the couple's daughter and son.
Melissa Etheridge has moved on with her life. She's dating Linda Wallen, who created the television hit Nurse Jackie. Clearly Tammy hasn't moved on and wants to get back as her former spouse. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
While $100,000 a month may seem overindulgent, $23,000 does sound like a really lowball figure. Hopefully, a judge will find a compromise somewhere in the middle. That might be crucial for Tammy if she truly doesn't have another source of income and must raise the two children on her own.
What are your thoughts? Is $23,000 fair or is $100,000 closer to realistic figure?
