I just finally got my net back up after a month of if it going crazy. Lets just say that since Fri we have had no service. Got it back up around 10:30 tonight. Fri the ATT guy came out, had a rewire, fried 3 modems, lost phone service and then they said we were up. 4 phone calls later to ATT, had the desktop working but the lap tops wouldn't work. After 3 hours of work tonight (after the whole weekend of trouble shooting), we are running

I have a background in networking and even worked for ATT tech support, so I did everything I could do. To say the least, I was very frustrated. I was seriously thinking of just dropping back down from 6Mbps to 3mbps just to get things working again. Everything went crazy when we upgraged.
They came out fri - installed Cat 5 phone line, gave new router. Plugged it in and then it was fried, plugged the old back in and fried it.
Then somehow we even lost dial tone. Had to check the remote (that is at our house) DSLAM is down the road. Had to go to the dslam 2x.
Gave us a new router. again...fried
Finally got one to work
Net was up according to them but couldn't connect.
4 phone calls later to tech support we got the desktop up but neither laptop would connect
Had to wait till today to talk to my friend
Called Steve and he said it was the MAC address. I had thought about that, but I jut bypassed that
Had to get the router disk and reset everything. It though wouldn't install on the laptop, because it is WIn 7.
Went to the desktop, installed and finally the laptops could see the network and connect. This was roughly another 3 hours spent working on the computer.
I have probably spent close to 10 hours since Fri trying to get the stupid computers to work. And it was something so simple as a MAC address (physical hardware address of the router/modem).
As a former network installer/tech I should have known this, actually thought of it and said, Nah, that can't be it."
