Chris Daughtry was a favorite to win American Idol Season 5, but fans were shocked when he was eliminated from the contest rather early. Of course, not winning the singing competition may have actually been a blessing in disguise for the rocker who has gone on to super stardom with his band, Daughtry. Before his Idol days, Daughtry played in a small band and now, those days are coming back to haunt him.
According to Gossip Cop, members of the former group, Absent Element, are suing Daughtry for "constructive fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, unfair trade practices, and other deceptive and wrongful conduct." They claim that they made contributions to songs used by Daughtry and are owed royalties.
Chris Daughtry responded with a statement saying, "I am very hurt by these false accusations. The songs listed in this lawsuit were written solely by me and no one else and at this time, I have no further comment."
Could these accusations be true, or are the former band members simply trying to cash in on Daughtry's fame?
