After a beautiful morning watching my granddaughter's soccer game with my youngest son, I was on my way home at about 12:30 p.m.. As I drove down the main street (speed limit 30 mph) I encountered a woman walking down the middle of the street crying. There was no place to pull over and it was only two blocks from the police station so I high-tailed it to the police station since I didn't have a cell phone. In the meantime, someone did call and two squad cars and an ambulance headed to where she was.
I drove back to where I could see down the street and talked to a couple of women out in their yards. They said they had tried to get her off the street but she just ignored them.
When I got home I contacted a friend who is a local police officer and was told that the woman said she wanted to kill herself. Apparently they got her into the ambulance and took her to the hospital. We may never know what brought the woman to the point where she would think that she could commit suicide like that, but we can pray that she gets whatever help she needs.
