I tried to post this last night, but Gather was glitching like crazy, and would not let me get on. Circumstances were a bit bizarre, but we got here. Fortunately Day 2 was much better. I still have to write about today, so while you're reading that, please enjoy yesterday's edition. Pics and videos to come.
Holy friggen crap!!
First off, i woke up around 2 AM, and could not get to sleep, so as of now, I've been awake for almost 24 hours.
5 AM came around, and we got our wakeup call from Mom ad Dave. We all piled into a taxi, and went to the train station, got on a train where we'd transfer in Toronto. It was in Toronto that we discovered the four of us were the only chocolate chips in a BIIIIIIG BOWL OF NUTS! The people at the Toronto Train Station were BAT-SHIT-CRAZY!!!! Pushing, shoving, yelling at the station workers... this was all at "pre-boarding." I resisted the overwhelming urge to jump up on the platform, and tell the population of the train station, minus the workers who were saints, to MANGE LE MERDE!!!!! Anyone who speaks a lick of French will kow what that means. :) We were eligable to pre-board because Walker and I are blind. Because the four of us were traveling together, We were said that there'd be a 4-set of seats made available for us. We got to the sets, and ONE PERSON was taking up our four-set. He was nOT going to move, because he was with the four in the other seat, and they all wanted to be together. They were yelling and screaming at the conductors, refusing to move. Don't know how she did it, but one of the ladies got the guy to move, and the four of us took the seats. The rest of the group next to us were noisy as hell. Fortunately they had some food with them, and quieted down once they started eating, and we were able to really enjoy the ride. It was a great experience, and there was a great view out the window, the whole way.
When we got to Montreal Uncle Steen was waiting for us. We all piled into his little tiny car, strapped in our luggage, and he drove us to the Delta. Dropped Walker and I off, and took Mom and Dave onto his and Aunt Mado's house. We all agreed to meet up again tomorrow (well today, since this'll go out after midnight) at 1 PM. He'd pick us up, drive us there, where Aunt Mado, possibly my cousin Erik, and hopefully his two little boys, would be waiting.
We came up here, the room was BEAUTIFUL!!!! I will post videos later. Walker and I had heard about the Troika restaurant from friends, and decided to check it out, so we called and made reservations. We codln't get in till 9:15. In the meantime, I decided to go check out the pool and hot tub, while Walker played with my computer.
After a bit of time in the awesome pool, I got into the hot tub. I was using the railing to lower myself down, when the damn thing BROKE RIGHT OFF!!! The area where it was supposed to be welded was F L A T, so it meant a BAAAAD welding job. Good thing that happened as I was getting in, and I was only a few inches above the ground (landed on my butt!), because if it had happened when I was climbing out, I'd probably be in a coma right now. After the spash of the railing hitting the water, the others in the room either learned, or re-learned some (new) words in English. LOL We're really hoping they fix that thing by morning, because the hot tub was something we were really looking forward to.
Went upstairs, and found the new episode of The Big Bang Theory on CTV. Funny stuff. After that, we headed to what we thought would be a nice peaceful, quiet (YEAH RIGHT!!) Russian dinner. The food was great, but the restaurant itsself was like a nightclub on steroids. LOL But the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! Blini with red caviar, borscht, blini with chicken, pelmeni, chicken Kiev, all served in courses, and finished off with a vodka sorbet!!!! Noise aside, the food was sooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooood!!!! Thanks Donald H, and Kathryn Esplin, for reccomending it. WOOHOO!!!!
After that we found a taxi, and came back here to the hotel. I'm about ready to crap out. LOL. The day ended on a memorable note, it was just a bit of a bumpy ride to get there. Tomorrow is going to be much more relaxing. Dinner with the family, filling the kids full of chocolate, watching what happens when my Aunt and Uncle discover Sljivovica (that'll be fun!!!!!), and hopefully being able to use the pool again, if they get it fixed. Then on Saturday Walker and I are going to do our own thing, and Sunday we're all going to go back to Guelph.
So that's the story of our first dday in Montreal. I'd post pics now, but quite frankly, I'M FRIGGEN EXHAUSTED!!!! If I wake up with enough time to spare before Uncle Steen gets here, I'll post some in the morning. If not, I'll post when we get back from Montreal. I have a few post cards I want to send, even though we're only here for a few days; my Grandpa, my sister, my Aunt who ALWAYS sends post cards...
Something tells me we'll remember this one forever.

Your meal at the Rissian restaurant sounds unbelievable. I feel like I was sitting next to you. Man, I haven't had good Russian grub in awhile. We used to live 15 minutes from the center of Brighton Beach, which is called a Little Odessa for a reason - restaurants, grocery stores, vegetable markets - all Russian and the food is so good. All the restaurants are like bad clubs. The decor is hysterical but the food is amazing.
Sounds like U R having a great time. Have a terrific vacation. Thanks for the vacation log.
The food was beyond amazing. Everything was wonderful!! The next night we ate in an authentic little Turkish restaurant!! Did you see my photo album? I loaded it on the "albums" section of my photo page on Gather.
