A Salmonella outbreak has sickened 90 people throughout 19 states. While CDC officials are still not certain exactly what caused this health problem, most people who have become ill ate sushi within the past week.
This Salmonella outbreak is caused by an unusual strain of the bacteria known as Salmonella Bareilly. People who have become ill got sick from the end of January to early April. It is concerning because officials still do not know what has caused the outbreak. Are you one of the 90 people who has gotten sick?
The worst thing is that officials do not have any warning about what to do to avoid this sickness which is characterized by diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Most people will end up recovering, but Salmonella infection can be devastating for people who are young, old, or have a compromised immune system. At this point, nobody has warned to stop eating sushi, so just be careful about where you buy it.
Hopefully CDC officials will discover the source of this outbreak before it becomes more widespread. This sickness is not fun no matter what your situation.
