Charles Manson is up for parole again.
The convicted killer of many people including actress Sharon Tate will have his hearing next week.
Manson led his followers on a killing rampage that left seven people dead over two nights in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969.
The murders were so brutal that it is still shocking today.
In fact, it is one of the most savage murder sprees in U.S. history.
Manson who had been in jail for most of his life until the late 1960's, formed his "family" in San Francisco and then picking up more members during his wandering travels around California.
They were loyal to him and did whatever he wanted.
Manson was trying to make it as a musician at the time, but he could not get a record deal even though the Beach Boys recorded one of his songs.
Frustrated, Manson became bitter and angry.
He was a drug user and he hurt people to get what he wanted.
His take on the world made no sense and he was crazy.
On the night of August 8, 1969, he sent out some of his followers to kill everyone who was at 10050 Cielo Drive.
After midnight, they killed five people there.
The next night, Manson went along and two more people were killed.
The murders shocked the country and celebrities went into hiding.
Manson was later caught while hiding in a cupboard during a raid.
He was convicted of the murders and sentenced to death.
In the early 1970's, California did away with the death penalty.
Manson was automatically given a life sentence.
He has been in jail ever since.

Manson also from what I read was trying to start a race war and that is why they wrote on the walls in blood... and it was geared to look like another group did it - against these people.
I don't think he will ever get paroled.... and if they grant him parole... it would be a travesty. He had a long history of going in and out of jail for many other crimes before all this. He is one person who fits the insane category. I think the people who followed him with the devotion they did were insane too. It was a horrific time when these people did the other murders too.
