The police department in Kansas City, Missouri held an awards ceremony Thursday to honor 10 year old Jason Smith.
...And he deserved it, by saving his 2 year old brother during a home invasion where his mother and grandmother was killed.
...Jason Smith is the only person not employed by the police department to receive their prestigious life-saving award, which they bestowed in honor of his bravery and quick-thinking last summer on July 28, 2011.
...Smith's ordeal started around 1:30 a.m. that morning, when he and his 2-year-old brother Zion were asleep with their grandmother, when his mothers ex-boyfriend busted in and during his time of stupidity, killed the boys mother and grandmother.
...The reason WHY he kept his brother from seeing the results of the carnage, was because when Jason Smith was 2, he witnessed his father being shot and killed.
...Yikes!!!
...He kept his cool and took his brother out of there, and sought help at a neighbor's home.

Even in the U.S. Army, not many that become 101st; knew less that this brave kid.
...So to speak,; he would be welcome in my squad anytime because I would know he has my back and I would have his.
I hope that IF there is a college fund for this kid, that it is fully funded.
He had his brothers back when needed the most.
...He does deserve it.
...Many of us adults would not have been able to do the actions that he did.
...Being cool headed was a trait that the US Army had to teach me.
...Yet, he did better than some that I knew in the service.
