Niecy Nash is plenty famous. One thing is for sure, she seems to have a chip on her shoulder about what fame is. Clearly having 5 million people tune-in for your wedding isn't nearly enough... she believes she will never be as famous as say... Kim Kardashian.
So, why does Ms. Nash resign to not be as popular? Is it because she refuses to take on every print ad, every commercial, every possible product endorsement? Is it because she refuses to be on television 24/7 and Twitter constantly? Is it because she doesn't create quite the drama that she is constantly feeding the tabloid monster?
No, Niecy says the reason that she won't be as famous is because she is "black."
The truth is black celebrities are not as sought after in the press as white celebrities, and that is comforting. As a black celebrity, if we go out to a hot spot, you know there are going to be paparazzi there, but we aren't the girl who someone is jumping out behind your trash [for] when we get home. So it's nice to be able to live your dream and not be overwhelmed by what can be a downside of the business.
Okay, so she doesn't exactly seem jealous of Kim Kardashian. Maybe she does like the lower profile. It just seems odd to use race as the reason for being less popular than Kim Kardashian. No, Niecy Nash is no Oprah Winfrey, but it doesn't mean that she couldn't be as popular.
So, maybe Niecy Nash is wrong... maybe it isn't race. Maybe Kim Kardashian's celebrity is because of an obnoxious PR machine. Goodness, everyone knows Kim didn't get famous based on her talent. Maybe Niecy should just suck it up and hire Kris Jenner to do her publicity for her.
