Rush Limbaugh accuses 'La Raza' of not defending George Zimmerman! "La Raza" is a the biggest Latino civil rights group in the United States. The name means the race. Limbaugh asked the question about why the group is not defending George Zimmerman while people are hurling accusations at Zimmerman over the death of Trayvon Martin.

"La Raza" responded in kind saying that it's not about race, and chided Rush Limbaugh for making it a racial issue. Unfortunately, it has become about race, but that doesn't mean that La Raza should blindly defend George Zimmerman because he is Latino.

Maybe La Raza like myself wants to wait and see what really happened between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. They are both human beings and race should not be the only issue. The issue is an American teenage was shot by a man who happens to be Latino.

Katrina, I'm sure it's diverted The People from a lot of unwanted executive orders being signed and Bills being passed ... . Apparently it's successfully taken many minds off of gas prices and budgets and more failing green companies and a president who whispers in the ear of the Russians before he tells Americans that his next election is already in the bag.

Our criminal justice system should defend Zimmerman. No one else should have to go out of their way to do so. What is sad is that the defense provided by our criminal justice system is a joke. Thus others have to step in if there is to be even an approximation of justice. La Raza should step in (and the rest of us should, too) if Zimmerman is not given a strong defense. Remember, the prosecution is the government. If we do not defend the accused, we make the government absolute in power over us.

Rosa, that is not how it all started. There was no "instruction" given and 911 had no authority to issue any. But more importantly, Zimmerman lived in a mostly "minority" neighborhood that suffered a lot of crime. He was performing a civilian service that the neighborhood appreciated. It was a rainy night and the boy was loitering. The boy's behavior was no less unusual. Zimmerman has black family and friends and he tutored black children in his home. This is not a racial issue. This is a political issue.

Well I am taking that position to your response to l who started it. I stand by what I have said, that is my perception. God himself will bring the truth out and I am a tad bit sick of hearing all of the rationalization...who had authority to issue, I do not know, don't care. So Fren, the penelty for loitering and looking unusal behavior (whatever that is) is death??? The kid had a right to be there no matter how it looked to Zimmerman. I also find it intresting that there was no indication the dispatcher was sending a car to the location.

Also, when a white woman has a child for a black man, the child is considered to be black...is it not true that GZ's Father is white and his mother is Latino? This being the situation, would the Father rule apply here, or has that too, changed?

....and if a black woman has a baby with a white man the baby is considered black so the rule in my mind is if you have a parent of color then you are a child of color no matter what the race is. I may be wrong about this, but that is the antiquated rule I was taught growing up.
People should be regarded as people first and not a product of their respective skin tone!

Our lifestyles always show our beliefs regardless to what we say. Susan, I was only trying to say the things you have said only I spoke from the standpoint of what society is obvious saying today. I have never seen color, and still don't. However, I do see attitude, and attitudes speak volumes to me. When the hearts of mankind changes, I am convinced we will live in peace. Until that time, I have made myself a committee of one to always walk the trail of peace by seeing others as being created by the same creator as my self. Again, you are not wrong, I was raised by the same rule as you stated. Therefore, I taught the same principle to my children and they carried them out into the world just as all children take the things out into the world they are taught. Rosa, I think Zimmerman's Father is Peruvian and his mother is white. That rule sounds bizarre to me.

Many things have sounded bizarre to me, Fren. The fact is, it is a rule and has been as long as I can remember. Have you ever seen a birthcertificate of a child born of mixed parents of which one was considered to black, especially the father? I do not need an answer, just food thought.

The current justice system is broken to an extent. A few individuals in law enforcement especially in certain parts of America, have to be pushed or shamed to do their job or the right thing.

I dont know why, they did not arrest him as of yet, but do know that if they havent enough evidence, they cannot take him to trial... or he could get off totally...so what is the use in arresting him, if the professionals(as I am assuming they are) do not feel they can make it stick...? I am not a professional and neither are many calling for an arrest.. There is a procedure that has to be done and if they have a law that gives someone the right to shoot if they feel their life is in danger, this may be the end of it...

If they do the grand jury, and they uphold his self defense claim, that will be that. I also read where the initial acceptance of the claim of self defense granted him immunity under the law which may be irrevocable, under the law. If the immunity has attached, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people. Usually I voice facts or perceptions. I will now voice my personal hope this is NOT the case.

Obama made this a race issue. The New Black Panthers made this a race issue. The media made it a race issue when they called Zimmermann white, then had to back pedal and call him "white Hispanic." And all over America, Occupy Hoodie members have made it a race issue. I'm with Rush. LaRaza should step up and help Zimmermann.

La Raza has no place in this. Zimmerman is a murderer, in my opinion, and should be in jail. If he had stopped following the boy when police told him to over the phone, there would have been no problem and no charges and the boy would still be alive.

That is incorrect. In Mexican usage, La raza means "the community".

Spanish is my native language and I have been involved in Hispanic advocacy since the late 1960s. La Raza is an advocacy group which was founded by Mexican-Americans and the title refers to language usage from their culture. Therefore, it does NOT mean "race" but community.

From what little I understand of La Raza they are as corrupt as this administraiton. They have their own Agenda and Obama is part and parcel of that. Black people who've their head on straight are asking why Obama isn't concerned for the much bigger problem of black on black killings. That's because they don't have an agenda that relies on Obama to fulfill it. That's the difference between sincerity and pure politics.

It's all about the Agenda. The Left, regardless who they are, have no loyalties to humanity, values or common sense. It's all about the Agenda and whatever it takes to get them there. I'm sure Limbaugh knew that, being sarcastic in his remarks.

La Raza are a civil rights group for Latinos. They have a negative and agressive conotation as far as I know.

Many of the groups and organizations like the RAZA were started in order to aid and protect the rights of minorities. It is because of groups like this that so many positive changes have occurred throughout American society and justice system. For the most part those individuals that view this group as some sort of anti-white and anti America are the same closed minded and intolerant individuals that gravitate towards the ideas and viewpoints of groups such as the KKK and their racist cousins.
