Teen Mom is MTV's controversial show which gives viewers an inside look at how hard it truly is to be a young parent. Although some say it glamorizes teen pregnancy, many of the girls stories help other teens.
Leah Messer, for instance, not only has twin daughters, but also went through an emotional televised divorce. Despite all of that, she and her ex-husband Corey Simms have displayed an amount of maturity way beyond their years when it comes to their daughters.
On Saturday, a fan asked Leah about the twins visitation schedule and wondered if they spent more time with their father than their mother. Leah cleared up the confusion, replying:
"We have joint custody... Are [sic] girls dont go by a schedule! That's not the kind of life we want for them!"
Divorce's are often hard and when there are children involved, it gets even harder. Custody is often one of the hardest things that parents have a hard time working out, but Leah Messer and Corey Simms do a great job at splitting the time. Because they are able to get along so well, their girls will benefit immensely.
Of course, not all young couples are able to get along as easily. However, many young girls look up to Leah and seeing her handle a rough situation so well is encouraging. Not everyone agrees that the show has been good for teenagers, but Leah Messer shows she is mature and a good role model for other teen moms.
