Bones is returning on April 2 to finish out the rest of the seventh season—and also to air bonus episodes at some point—and now, there's good news for fans because it's official that there will be more.
Season 8 Is Official
Executive producer Stephen Nathan tweeted the news with "#Bones will be back for season 8!! We're back, baby!!!" Thursday afternoon, and it wasn't a surprise for anyone. When the show was honored at PaleyFest in early March, Hart Hanson had said he was "confident" the series would get an eighth—and possibly even ninth—season, adding that it is "in many ways...Fox's most successful hour-long scripted drama."
There's just something about the show that keeps fans sticking around, even with the short season and hiatus even after the two leads got together and are now having a baby together. There's a reason why it's been around for seven years now, and that comes down to the acting, writing, directing, and consistency over the years. While it is a drama, there are moments of comedy, which keeps the show entertaining. Something else that works is bringing in serial killers like they have—Gormogon, Gravedigger, Jacob Broadsky, and now Pelant—and showing that not everyone is safe or above suspicion.
There really was no doubt that Fox would renew, and it was just a matter of when the announcement would come. Now fans can breathe easily knowing they have a new season to look forward to, and back at PaleyFest, they had even started listing possible storylines including looking into Sweets' childhood, Angela's real name (with the return of Billy Gibbons), and exploring more of the characters' families.
Are you at all surprised that Bones has been renewed? Will you be tuning in for the rest of season 7, the bonus episodes, and season 8?
