A silence falls heavy
In a room where two sit
Opposite thoughts,
worlds apart
Too afraid to speak,
fear of what will start
He wants to reach out his hand
But the walls are too high
She can sense him reaching out
she whispers, I'm sorry, but good bye
A few feet away,
He asks her - am I too late
She replies - there are too many barriers,
too many lies you can't keep straight
Years of trying to communicate
But all we do is alienate
And now, finally, it is time we separate
A silence falls heavy
In a room where two sit

But then again, fiction probably would have not been that hurtful!
Now featured at Gather's Luminous Writers and Artists.
There were two responses on the theme of the barriers that divide a couple. Joanne B wrote about the 5-inch Wall and you about one too high. One has to wonder whether large walls are built out of little ones.
Well crafted, Priya!!
