Obama's green agenda IS Obama's energy policy. The goal is noble, but it is failing. Other countries have been downgrading their subsidies to failed green initiatives, like England and Germany, while the United States doubles down. The green initiative needs to be gradual, and allow for passionate innovators to find solutions without stifling government regulations. Instead, billions gets wasted on those who are passionate about one thing: money.
President Obama and Energy Secretary Steven Chu have not been shy about their ambitions of high gas prices, which are, to them, better for the long term, as people will be "nudged" into buying more fuel economic vehicles and will be ultimately better for the environment. They do not want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, but on all fossil fuels here and abroad. They do not say it outright because it is not popular politically.
From the Wall Street Journal in 2008, "Mr. Chu has called for gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to coax consumers into buying more-efficient cars and living in neighborhoods closer to work."
When challenged on previous statements regarding the benefits of the high cost of gas, the president mocks and deflects. Ed Henry from Fox news recently asked the president, "Your critics will say on Capitol Hill that you want gas prices to go higher because you have said before that will wean the American people off fossil fuels onto renewable fuels. How do you respond to that?" Obama replied, "Ed, just from a political perspective, do you think the President of the United States going into re-election wants gas prices to go up higher? Is that—is there anybody here who thinks that makes a lot of sense?"
The question was valid, and sadly, very few challenge the president on his past statements.
Energy Secretary Steven Chu
Steven Chu testified at the congressional hearing on Oversight and Government Reform last week. Rep. Darrell Issa asked Chu, who has been clear that his goal isn't to lower the price of gas, but to "decrease our dependency on oil," if he would grade himself on "controlling the cost of gasoline at the pump" as he had previously given himself an "A-".
Chu responded, "The tools we have at our disposal are limited, but I would I say I would give myself a little higher in that since I became Secretary of Energy, I've been doing everything I can to get long-term solutions."
Issa responded with quite a tirade and the news went crazy over Chu's non-answer, which was about controlling the cost of gas, not about long term solutions. Jimmy Fallon even mocked Chu, he said, "Yesterday, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said that he would give himself an A for controlling the cost of gas," Fallon said. "On behalf of Americans, I'd like to give him an F—and a U. Five dollars a gallon for gas? You turkey!"
At a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing earlier this month, Senator Mike Lee (R-Ut.) challenged Chu on his statements about the benefits of the high cost of fuel. He asked Chu, "So are you saying you no longer share the view that we need to figure out how to boost gasoline prices in America?" Chu responded: "I no longer share that view."
The Washington Times Communities reminded us that "Back in 2010, Obama strongly flexed his anti-oil muscle, when he instituted a sixth-month moratorium on deepwater and shallow drilling. The price of gas was only $2.73 per gallon at the time of Obama implementing the moratorium."
The Obama administration has already spent billions on 'green energy' companies, with most of them resulting in bankruptcy and massive layoffs. His Green Agenda is not working and he wants even more. For Obama's 2013 budget proposal, "Programs for advanced research along with energy efficiency and renewable energy account for the biggest percentage increase in spending." As chief of staff, Jacob Lew, said last month, "I think there is pretty broad agreement that the time for austerity is not today."

"The ultimate goal of this administration is to weaken us into collapse, like a parasite sucking the life out of its host."
Ok, here is my crazy conspiracy theory, I really wonder what the ultimate goal is. I think it could be an "evening of the playing field", the idea of his father being an "anti-colonialist" and how he was clearly influenced by his father, perhaps Obama wants other countries to have more opportunities and he (and his ilk) wrongly believe that weakening the United States would somehow strengthen the countries that we have "suppressed" or "stolen from"?
He has been clear from the start that his vision of the US is a different vision that most, as Michelle Obama said before they shut her down, Barack wants us to change our history, our traditions, he will not allow us to go back to our old way of life, etc (paraphrase) and Obama himself saying that we think we can have our SUVs, our houses on 72 degrees, eat whatever we want and everyone will be ok with that, etc (another paraphrase).
Or is it really because he believes in the United States? He cannot believe that all of this spending is going to help us, we borrow $50,000 per second or something crazy like that. Are we REALLY going to pay that all back? When???
It is very clear that the direction America is being led is ultimately about One World Government. The United Nations will be our governing power, not our U.S. Constitution. IMO Obama (this Left that are in American power now) sees himself (they see themselves) as the leader of the world.
Communism is necessary to take America into One World Government. Americans would never go willingly. To bring a free society of the strongest nation in the world (America) in to Communism, they must first sell Socialism. One of the worst murderous Communist leaders, Vladimir Lenin of the U.S.S.R., is credited with saying, "The goal of Socialism IS Communism." It is well known that Socialism is merely the step in between a free Capitalist society like America's and Communism, such as China's.
Selling Communism is done by doing exactly what you've seen subtly take place over the last 50-years. And done more so at warp speed under Obama. People start innocenetly using the Left's terminology, like "the collective;" and they start repeating the Left's sympathetically sounding concepts, like "America suppressing other countries," to apply 'nice' sounding words to what are very bad motivations.
Those are the techiniques of Communism. The techinuqes they're using are soundly written in their own documents. If you haven't yet you need to read about Cloward-Piven/Saul Alinsky Marxism. That is the crux of it. That is what is taking place today. You will recognize the techniques right away, they are clear as a bell.
By using their terminology and regurgitating their concepts, as you yourself have, people begin to view America differently; they start having different expectations of what America is or should be. People begin to embrace those concepts as real; concepts that are not American concepts at all. People accepting them is half of the battle won. Similar to the Left using "political correctness" to nudge us into the state we are today.
Renee, a president who denounces everything that America stands for and has been throughout history -- which this man has repeatedly done and continues to repeatedly do -- cannot possibly "believe in" America. His goal is to "fundamentally transform America," he has very clearly said so. He/They want a Communist government. That cannot be anymore clear. The we will be ushered into the One World Order, which, IMO, is already in place just waiting for us to arrive at the party.
I don't know your age and not that it matters in understanding America's history. Please look at this linked article and you will see that today's efforts into Communism are not unlike those of the 60's anti-war movement. They are eerily similar and there's very good reason for that. The very same people (Bill Ayers et al) were a part of that "revolution" too.
Yes, the 1% charade is part and parcel of Obama's Class Warfare game. That, too, is very clearly identified in Cloward-Piven/Alinksy materials. That is the self identified goal of a "community organizer." It's in the same category as manipulating and inciting events surrounding today's Trayvor shooting story. It goes directly to generating chaos and upheaval that divides The People so they cannot be the stronger force they are when not divided.
People are being played fools by this administration and we are the only ones who can stop it. The first step in doing that is to recognize it for what it truly is and guide our reactions accordingly. In the case of Trayvor's protesters, that would be to sit down and shut up and let the boy's life be remembered for the genuine life it was, not the made-up racial ploy being exploited. Obama is laughing at them and how easily he can push their buttons.
And relating that to "understanding America's history" -- Few Americans of any age understand or have knowledge of America's history. In this regard, American's are completely ignorant about the more unsavory facts that are buried under the propaganda. I'd bet that less than 1% of Americans know that we purposely targeted and killed well over 100,000 civilians in WWII (before the A-bomb), or that we repeatedly went to wars with public support initiated by lies, such as Viet Nam (Gulf of Tonkin), Granada (the "students are in danger"), Gulf War I (the "Iraqi soldiers dumping Kuwaiti babies out of incubators onto floor), or our recent Iraq adventure (where the public thought Saddam had something to do with 9/11). How many American students were ever taught that the Iran Hostage Crises came about because they were pissed off that we'd replaced their democratically elected leader with a dictator that we chose. As big as an event that that was - Do you think more than a fraction of 1% of Americans have a clue about that today? American's are so indoctrinated with propaganda (as are citizens of many countries) that they think the Iranians were just being uppity, and that terrorists don't really have a problem with our policies that affect them, but they "hate our freedom."
Indoctrination - Nothing new. We just haven't been able to see it because it's wrapped in patriotism.
I just hope people can wake up in time...
Robert, you had me until your last comment. History has been distorted, particularly when people are taught history by Howard Zinn and others who clearly had an agenda. Americans have done bad things, and they have done wonderful things and we need to know the truth about it all, lest we repeat the bad and so we can continue with the good. Do you think America is only bad?
I don't think America is only bad, and a big reason "we" (ve) done bad things is that we have been a superpower, and superpowers, by nature, manipulate. However, the "average" American is extremely ignorant about our history. I agree, Renee that we need to see the bad and the GOOD, but that's not what patriotism is about. The mass of population that believes patriotism is a good thing, ONLY looks at the good, and ignores or is in denial of the bad.
My point was really that Fren's idea that only young people have been indoctrinated by propaganda, is a little narrow. Look at Americans who are 60 years old. They grew up watching TV westerns in the '50's where "the only good Indian is a dead Indian." Did any of them ever see a western where John Wayne played an Indian removed from his home and forcibly made to do a death march to the reservation? Same with WWII. Most Americans think the war in Europe was all about us saving the French from the Germans, with Russia is a minor player; when the reality was that Russia was THE major player.
"I still don't know what they want! What is the vision?" -- Renee
The vision, Renee, is to knock America down a peg, equal the "playing field" in the World, that there is not a Superpower to STOP them (The UN/New World Order are terrified of the U.S.), and create their Elite Family Dynasties.
Renee, these Evil People see the World this way:
Them: The Elites and their Families and Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren...etc.
Us: Those who toil their lives away, keeping quiet, keeping the World Economy humming, thus keeping them, and their Children, and their Childrens Children Wealthy, Safe, cared-for, Fat and Happy for the rest of Time. Do you think that Obama's Great-Great-Great Grandchildren have even a farthing or a Meal to worry about? Do you think that Obama's Lineage will ever pay for another gallon of petrol?
Remember...they are also non-Believers. This is their Utopia. And they intend to have it.
Renee; please pay little attention to Robert A. Zinn, here. His motives are quite clear.
And in Iraq and Afghanistan we spent 150,000.00 per minute for many years - and for no reason the "wars" were purported to be about.
In my entire life, I've read about 2 pages of Howard Zinn. I'm not commenting with agenda or motive. Just addressing the issue raised about propaganda and indoctrination that goes WAY beyond what is described above.
The Left inevitably digresses into argumentative diversions of little to no value. It can be only for one of two reasons: They are too shallow to grasp the manipulations they've been sucked into; or their intent is to keep the bigger truth in their darkness because they want the Revolution they can almost taste by now.
At this juncture in America, there are only two questions to be answered: Do you want to live under Socialism, ultimately Communism; or do you want to live under the free Capitalist market that America was before Obama?
That is the choice each of us have to make. All of the picayune accusations and blame-throwing does not change that one iota. It is that simple. We can lift ourselves out of this well-designed confusion or we can continue to vacillate in it, becoming a part of what that confusion is intended to bring about.
By the way, Fren, off-topic, I hope you don't mind, but your memo story freaked me out so much that I just incorporated it into my latest article (just published). Did you know that they guy who wrote that memo got a Margaret Sangar award in 1978 (the annual award given by Planned Parenthood). It blew my mind!! Anyway, it is on the home page if you want to check it out.
We'd do better to recognize ALL propaganda and indoctrination for what it is, and recognize that the government (our government) manipulates us with it. That goes for the current administration, AND the previous one, and the one before that and on and on and on...
We'd do better, for a better America, if we'd recognize that we're not able to control the world, because we've repeatedly demonstrated that we lacked the foresight: Example: Removing Iran's leader in favor of the tyrannical Shah as dictator, ultimately turned Iran against westernization. Another example: Supporting other tyrannical dictators like Pinochet in Argentina (who murdered and routinely "disappeared" citizens) helped turn South America against us to a point where we have little or no influence there, today.
America would be better if we were more educated about what our real history is, so we can keep from repeatedly shooting ourselves in the foot, as we have done. We would do well to not look away from the bad, and recognize that the government doesn't always act in the interest of the larger public, but rather, has become a tool of big money interests - That goes for the Obama, Bush, Clinton... and all the way back,
We would be better if we could (collectively) get a grip on our fear, and not let it drive us as it does, and not let the government (Bush administration's "war on terror" is a good example) manipulate us with it.
Best example to illustrate the above: There is talk of war with Iran, but a very few Americans know anything about our history with Iran. We removed (as mentioned above) their democratically elected leader to install the dictator we chose. We helped Saddam Hussein use WMD against Iran. We enabled Iran's extreme anti-western fundamentalist leaders maintain control by threatening and general saber rattling to the point where the western leaning population lined up behind those anti-western leaders.
I've been disillusioned with politics and have not followed the Obama administration in detail. Can you tell me specifically what Obama has done that has made us more socialist than we were under the Bush administration?
You don't have to know Alinsky to be used as a tool of the tactics. That's what makes the tactics work. You should read about him, it doesn't take much to identify what's at play so you can recognize it. Once you understand the game, you won't be so concerned about silly Bush questions :).
BTW, I'm not thrilled with the Old Guard Republican party, either. In truth, OG Repubs seek the same OWG end, they just take a different path to it. It's a shame Americans who are sincerely discontent with what these parties have become can't get past the division hurdles that this Community Organizer In Chief keeps throwing out there, else we could actually DO something about them.
Mankind is a fickle lot.
As far as your question (I think it was meant for dear Fren, but I would like to take a stab...)
Obama has been successful at polarizing this nation more than it already was, and it was bad under Bush. I was bitterly disappointed in some of his words, which have mocked religion, mocked the right, dismissed others with regard to so many issues, many of which I have written about here. (I know this does not seem to be going toward socialism, but I will get there). Additionally, he has been very "apologetic" about America and embraces opinions that do not seem to be representative of America. He has been outrageous in his dismissal of the Congress and the Constitution. his Healthcare bill, cap and trade, the privacy of Americans, the defense bill, the budget, all of these things that he has pushed are so against my personal beliefs and I believe that of many others, that we become even more bitterly divided. The worst, though, is his constant flip-flops on so many issues, sometimes within a single speech, that make him, to me, extremely untrustworthy. He puts his finger to the wind. This, I think, is why he became a Christian. And yes, I am familiar with Saul Alinsky and the president certainly uses his tactics, which are extremely divisive. (Ridicule your enemy, for one, which is touched upon above in his response to the reporter regarding gas prices.)
Anyway, all of these things contribute to a weakening of the resolve of Americans and worse, a mistrust of one-another.
To get Americans to a place where they accept socialism, the gaps need to widen among the rich and poor, believers and non-believers, black and white, male and female, right and left, among young and old, parents and children. We see all of these things happening. It is not something that the president advertises, but believe that he wants to "even the playing field" and bring America down so that others can "share the wealth". Perhaps it is crazy and I hope it is, but with these thoughts in mind, it seems like everything he does is meant to divide us against each other and weaken us economically. When we are in a place of desperation, we will easier accept socialism.
On the Saul Alinsky thing: I don't know about that either, and I've never heard a "liberal" quote him, only conservatives who tie liberals to him. It's a similar thing to Leo Strauss, who is called the godfather of the Neocons. His principles included having a cohesive public to govern by using religion that the governing don't need to believe in but need to promote as though they do, and perpetual war to also make the public cohesive (against a common enemy) so they can be easily governed, etc. Many in the Bush administration were big on Leo Strauss, particularly those from the PNAC.
Doesn't matter in my view. Either way, it's just a reflection of the pattern we're in. The right and left each think they're the correct side in a virtuous battle between good and evil, and the other side is, and everything they say and do is a reflection of that evil. Meanwhile we are caught in the grip and manipulated by money. Big Pharma, Big Agri, Finance, and the Defense Industry calls the shots whether it be Bush or Obama. We're about to be flattened by this huge steamroller and we lay there arguing about what color the steam roller is.
Obama has been successful at polarizing this nation more than it already was, and it was bad under Bush.
That is exactly the tactic Hitler used to divide Germany. That's not a random or inflammatory statement. That is truth.
Until Obama Americans had never heard of nor pondered our country being shattered into divisive pieces the likes of our federal gov't suing one of our own States. Against The People's better judgment (unless you consider everyone Left, which the majority is not), our gov't sued Arizona. This is only one example of countless more that took to dismantling States' Rights, more importantly, dismantling our Republic's U.S. Constitution. Under our Republic, our individual rights are legally guaranteed. Dismantling our legal document paves the way for only one outcome: Removing our individual rights, just as Socialism requires.
Suing our State further segregated and incited more states as well as local govt's and entities as slight as a basketball team to pile-on in shunning if not trying to totally desecrate one State from all the rest of us. This adminsitration went further by taking the unconscionable actions of including ELEVEN (perhaps more when all was said and done) FOREIGN COUNTRIES in their suit, intended only to OWG ambitions. These were unheard of, unfathomable Socialistic acts never taken before, let alone under Bush.
his words, which have mocked religion, mocked the right, dismissed others
This administration not only mocked the founding faith of our country's Fathers (Judeo-Christian beliefs in God, the "Creator"), it removed long-standing traditions of honor to that faith in favor of paying OUR money and this govt's lip service to adversary religions and the non-believing alike, further empowering them in mocking and persectuing this country's J-C founding. No. I will NOT debate about whether America is J-C nation. It is. No one can change that history, no matter how many times they try to rewrite and regurgitate it. History does not change. Any diversion from that is nothing but personal indifference not based on fact. This is another of the many "class warfare" divisions Obama's administration has worked to create. The "party of tolerance" [cough cough] exemplifies blatant intolerance for its selective "collective good," superceding individual rights, which is Socialism/Communism.
his Healthcare bill, cap and trade, the privacy of Americans, the defense bill, the budget, all of these things that he has pushed
There are tons more examples, all of them incorporating the ideologies of Socialism/Communist. Obama's first bailouts enabled gov't to take possession of and regulate entire, otherwise private, industries. Much as Obamacare tries to own the insurance industry. Bailouts made *disappear*, without a trace, legal contracts between The People and private industries, along with The People's personal properties held by those industries. Confiscating personal property is exactly what Socialism/Communism does.
There are voluminous new Obama regulations, far outnumbering any imposed by any president before Obama and all intended to transfer ownership or micromanagement of personal/private business and lives, to gov't. That is Socialism/Communism.
The best way to demonstrate America's transition into Communism is to provide some links, if Robert is really seriously interested in understanding: One addresses "transformations" over the last 50-years and offers some basics about Alinsky. Another addresses official records of admitted Socialists serving in Congress right now.
When our own Congressmen admit to being Socialist, there can be no doubt. There is also the infamous Waters' video where she admits in front of Congress that Socialism IS the Democrats' goal. I would be shocked if Robert A. has not seen this information before, which is what causes me skepticism. Granted, what we can find on the internet today is not nearly as comprehensive as what was available before Obama and that censorship, in and of itself, IS Socialism/Communism.
Everything that OWS touts is Socialism and Obama and the Dems clearly support that. Dem local and state gov'ts are what enabled OWS to drag on day after day. The Comunist Party USA (CPUSA) and the American Nazi Party and Unions, all of which admittedly support and contribute to Obama, give resources to OWS. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to put these puzzle pieces together. Birds of a feather DO flock together.
Obama has overwhelmingly grown govt' and that is one of the shining examples of Socialism/Communism. Robert A. should certainly do a search on all of the gov't agencies added by Obama. Just those added under Obama's HC Law are voluminous and that only scratches the surface of all gov't growth that Obama instituted in a mere 3-years. Three years.
Dictating by executive order, taking deliberate measures to implement what The People are opposed to (unless you consider "The People" to be only the radical Left), without even consulting The People's Congressional representatives, is the most abusive form of Socialism/Communism that America has witnessed. Don't get me started on our educational system.
Just how much of this truth can be shoved under the table or rationalized away with rewritten history, before those who don't want to see the truth about Obama allow themsevles to see the truth of Obama? I know the truth with own eyes and brain. I don't need anyone to tell me what truth is. Anyone who wants to argue penny-anty nonsense is nothign but a Lefty wanting to disguise or confuse truth.
There is always one fail-safe way to tell if someone is who we should put our trust in and its lgoic fits everyone: "We shall know them by their fruits." Has what Obama produced reaped good or bad fruit? There is no doubt in my mind that his is some of rottenest fruit I've ever had the displeasure of seeing produced. For those who think it's good, good will to you. But I'm not going to argue with you about it, there is nothing left to argue.
You either want tyranny or freedom. That's the only question left to answer.
Read Cloward-Piven/Alinksy tactics for yourself to know whom they do apply. It'll save you a lot of nonsensical reading.
Allowing a person to reason for themself is called 'freedom.' Telling lies so a person will believe what you want instead, is called 'propaganda.'
This says it all. ROFL.
The only question left is, do you want tyranny or do you want freedom? All else is distraction nonsense. Case in point being keenly demonstrated in great length and number above our comments.
BTW, did you know the Carter administration left reems of boxed Alinksy books in the White House when Reagan's administration took over? Marxist materials teaching Marxism being passed out on the unsuspecting Taxpayers' dollars. No wonder Reagan was so concerned about Communism, he had very good cause to be.
The rules, as RF stated above, are despicable:
The rules:
1. Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.
2. Never go outside the expertise of your people.
3. Whenever possible go outside the expertise of your enemy.
4. Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.
5. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
6. A good tactic is one your people enjoy.
7. A tactic that drags on too long is a drag.
8. Keep the pressure on. Never let up.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the threat itself.’
10. If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.
11. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
12. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
It is exactly the type of thing we should be fighting against and not promoting as an option. It only serves to silence. I would like to win hearts and minds, NOT simply silence the opposition, as Alinsky promotes. The rules are interesting, as they reflect the radical left and we see these rules being used again and again, they are (I think) the opposite of the goals of the Tea Party.
Not to be repetitive, but I am way against using deceit, isolation, mocking. After all, we should stand on the strength of the truth, of our arguments!
lol! RF, way to diminish your arguments!
When challenged on previous statements regarding the benefits of the high cost of gas, the president mocks and deflects.
Which is Obama's MO. An arrogantly indignant response to wasting so much of other people's money. This man has no humility and that is a most dangerous sense of self.
The Obama administration has already spent billions on 'green energy' companies, with most of them resulting in bankruptcy and massive layoffs. His Green Agenda is not working and he wants even more.
This "leader" is what they call "incorrigible." Among a number of other things. He can't find enough holes to dump America's strengths into. The ultimate goal of this administration is to weaken us into collapse, like a parasite sucking the life out of its host.
The only question left is, do you want tyranny or do you want freedom? All else is distraction nonsense.
Take a hike, R.F. [waving] Buhh-Byee
However, in your first point about Alinsky, you said,
"Robert, Saul Alinsky wrote a book that Conservative groups give to Tea Partiers in order that they would follow Alinsky's methods of organizing and implementing change. At the same time, Conservatives try to demonize folks on the left by saying the left uses these tactics."
Let me ask you this, I can tell you that I heartily disagree with the tactics. I am curious as to how you feel about them?
As RF and friends are aware, Freedomworks used Saul Alinsky's tactics as a way to "fight fire with fire". I was incredibly disappointed in the organization and reached out to them to tell them so.
I received a response:
"Historically, the left has been incredibly successful in organizing movements and take that high ground away from the right. Our attempt is to use a version of Alinsky’s tactics against the left. We use a refined and respectful version of Alinsky’s tactics. Our chairman, Leader Dick Armey, has a great quote about the tactics, “Alinsky was good at what he did, but what he did was not good.” We draw a line, and do not attempt to “demonize” the left as Alinsky attempted to demonize the right.
We do believe that “government goes to those who show up” and community, grassroots organizing is a vital component to success. We do not advocate for violence. This difference is seen in our Rules for Patriots pamphlet. Please let me know if you would like a copy, and I would be happy to mail you one."
I am digging a bit deeper on this, but thought I would let you know of the update.
THIS is a perfect illustration, and is exactly what is going wrong with America; and, it is indicative of the selfishness and narcissism of the Left...it is also antithetical to what Americans are, and what Americans believe.
Leftists care about what is good for themselves...
Conservatives care about what is good for the Country.
